WORK EXPERIENCE
Technical Sales Manager
CTD Marine Systems Group - April 2004 to June 2011
Responsibility for sales of shipboard and oil platform installed air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Main
responsibility is concentrated on quotations for international (worldwide) area with back-up assistance for U.S.
customers. Responsibility for achieving annual sales and EBIT plans for the Marine Systems Group.
Senior Product Marketing Manager
- October 2001 to March 2004
Responsibility shifted to Carrier's Absorption Chiller products and 19XR compressor sales to overseas
manufacturing facilities. Responsibility included coordinating sales and projects with our factories in China
and Korea, pricing creation and administrating of quotations. Customer visits and presentations as well as
literature creation were some of my duties. Full P&L responsibility for both of these product lines was included
in my objectives.
Senior Product Marketing Manager
- November 1994 to October 2001
Responsibility for leading Carrier's 19XR centrifugal and 23XL screw water chiller product lines with annual
global revenues in excess of $100 million. Duties include all functions responsible for meeting return on sales
objectives, including administrating market based pricing levels, managing share of market objectives,
warranty cost administration, adjustments to product lead time in relation to factory loading and sales
presentations to perspective customers both at our office and at customer sites.
Product Marketing Manager
- January 1986 to November 1994
Responsibility included management of Carrier's existing and new chiller product line including the preparation
of marketing specifications for Carrier's line of 19XL centrifugal chillers and 23XL screw chillers. Preparation
of capital appropriations for these new lines, initiating the transfer of absorption chiller technology from our
licensee in Japan to a product built in North America. Develop and implement a marketing plan for these new
products, present new opportunities to Carrier management, and day-to-day technical and commercial field
sales support.
Senior Application Engineer
- March 1985 to January 1986
Product marketing responsibility for Carrier's 100 to 1000 ton centrifugal chiller product line was my primary
focus. Responsibilities include support of global field sales offices on technical and commercial inquiries,
interface with manufacturing on job scheduling and forecasting, sales training, administration of customer
witness test program, creation of sales literature and price pages, and administration of computerized selection
program for our products. During this period I had a group of 6 people report to me during a transitional period
between reorganizations.
Senior Market Engineer
- November 1983 to March 1985
International product marketing responsibility for Carrier's 1000 to 6000 ton centrifugal chiller product line which
included field technical support, liaison with product engineering, pricing creation/maintenance and forecasting.
Specific responsibilities included travel to various sales offices overseas to assist in the promotion and sale of
large centrifugal chiller projects, and creation of computerized job-tracking system to provide essential market
statistics to staff personnel.
Area Sales Manager
APO & LAO - September 1981 to November 1983
Area sales responsibilities for Carrier's Asia/Pacific zone for large commercial applications and custom
industrial refrigeration systems. Sales responsibilities included working with area sales offices in the
development/promotion of Carrier products, prospect investigation, quote preparation, quote follow up,
customer presentations including travel to customer offices in APO. Annual sales revenue averaged $3.5 to
$4.0 M.
Responsibilities included area sales for Mexico, Northern South America, and Caribbean. Responsibilities also
included administration of our industrial refrigeration sales department in Mexico City, which consisted of one
sales manager, a sales engineer, and secretary. Annual sales volume averaged $2.5 M. frequent trips were
made to Mexico, Venezuela, and Columbia to initiate a working relationship with area distributors and promote
the sale of industrial refrigeration systems.
Sales Engineer
- September 1979 to September 1981
Responsibilities included system design, equipment selection/pricing, quotation preparation, presentations
of proposals and follow up through the sale, manufacture, and start-up of the equipment. Frequent trips to
Mexico were made to present and follow up on quotations. During this period I also had project engineering/
management experience for jobs which I sold and handled through the installation and start-up of the
equipment.
Application Engineer
- August 1976 to September 1979
Position responsible for system design, selection, and pricing of standard and custom absorption,centrifugal,
and reciprocating refrigeration systems. During this period I supported several Sales Engineers located in
Syracuse and overseas.
