        The Agency Workers Regulations 2010 (AWR) are complex with many
        conflicts and ambiguities ready to trip up the unwary, yet there are positive
        options. Working with our clients towards practical solutions for their

        • We have been instrumental in the development of recruitment law over the years. Key initiatives proposed
          by Lawspeed have influenced the legislative landscape including:

               -   The limited company opt out contained in the Conduct Regulations 2003, first proposed by Lawspeed to
                   government in September 2001.
               -   Changes to the Managed Service Company legislation implemented in April 2007, following
                   presentations in conjunction with HMRC. This limited agency exposure to liability.
               -   Helping to persuade the government to abandon key damaging areas within the draft AWR first
                   proposed in October 2009.
        • In addition to our achievements above, we have followed the Agency Workers Directive from the outset
          in 2002, having then presented and taken part in the government consultation at that time. In 2009 our
          updating seminar on the AWR was undertaken in conjunction with the Department of BIS.
        • We have a specific understanding of agency worker status and experience of dealing with claims by agency
          workers and contractors.
