This document discusses aseptic processing and packaging. Aseptic processing involves sterilizing products, packaging materials, and facilities to prevent contamination. It results in shelf-stable products sealed in sterile packaging without refrigeration. The process includes UHT sterilization, filling in sterile environments, and hermetically sealed packages. Hyosung built Korea's first complete aseptic production facility with an annual capacity of 315 million bottles and state-of-the-art technology from preforms to filling. Aseptic packages provide benefits of portability, food safety from bacteria, and retaining more nutrients compared to canning.

5.
6. Aseptic processing comprises the following:
Sterilization of products before filling
Sterilization of packaging materials or
containers before filling
Sterilization of aseptic installations before
operation(UHT unit, sterile air and gasses,
filler and relevant machine zones)
Production of hermetic packages
9. Hyosung was the first to build a complete aseptic system production facility in Korea. This Gwanghyewon
plant has an annual production capacity of 315 million bottles. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art
technology and an integrated production system, which ranges from preform fabrication and PET bottle
molding services to beverage mixing, filling and packaging.

12. A condition in which contamination or infection
of microorganisms are prevented and also
ingress or out gress of mass is 100%
prevented. This is carried out by air tight
sealing.
A procedure consisting of sterilization of the
packaging material or container, filling of a
commercially sterile product in sterile
environment and producing containers which
are hermetically sealed which results in
product which is shelf stable under ambient
condition.
15. • *a DEAERATOR is used to remove air,
as most products must be deaeratored
prior to packaging.
• The air is removed to prevent
undesirable oxidative reactions, which
occur as the product temperature is
increased during the process
• The deaerator is generally consists of a
vessel in which the product is exposed to
a vacuum on a continuous flow.
20.
Aseptic packages are portable, lightweight, and
shatterproof and easily transportable
Convenienc
e
The aseptic process and carton together ensure that
the liquid food or beverage inside is free from harmful
bacteria and contaminants.
Food Safety
Compared with canning, products can retain more
nutrients as well as natural taste, colour and texture

22. • Plant Installation cost is high as compare to
canning
• Overcooked flavour in some products
• Lack of equipment for particulate sterilization,
due especially to settling of solids and thus
over processing
