“Dissociate two dissimilar objects
by breaking the fusion to find out
the PHORIA for distance”

 Room illumination dim.
 Can be done at 3m and 6m.
 Maddox rod is placed in RE.
 Provide spot of light target at
distance.
 RE views a LINE image, while LE
views a SPOT OF LIGHT.

III. The room should be brightly illuminated and
patient should be optically correected
IV. The examiner instructs the pateint to hold the
maddox wing and identify the number that
the white vertical arrow and red horizontal
arrow .
