life.

among human beings.

Records the mores and the cultural patterns of a
society form.
Gives expressions to deep and universal emotions.
6. Folklorists agree that a folktale is
created by most people at an
early level of civilization.
And that was historically proven
by the past rituals,superstitions,or
events.
7. FOR WHOM WAS THE FOLK LITERATURE DIRECTED
TO IN EARLY TIMES?
9. NOW, the folk literature is being read, studied, and
analyzed by children.
Nowadays, folktales are not only being told for
entertainment not also for information.

11. HISTORY OF FOLKTALES:
In 1697,Charles Perrault collected and published
some famous folktales in France.
(eg: Tales of mother goose)
They developed in the eighteenth century.
In 1894,Joseph Jacobs adapted and compiled a
new series of books with folk and fairy tales.
Then in 1889 until 1910, a series of fairy books
containing folktales from around the world was
published in England by Andrew Lang.
12. A FOLKTALE IS:
A traditional literature that was
passed down orally from one
generation to another.
USUALLY, its author is unkown.
13. THEORIES OF FOLKTALES’ ORIGIN:
Monogenesis
(single origin)
Polygenesis
(many origins)
The recent studies mention that there is a
diffusion of folktales because of immigrations
and contacting different cultures.
14. THE REMNANTS PRESERVED THROUGH
FOLKTALES:
Some scholars were convinced that folktales preserve
the remnants of nature myths and traditional stories.
Folktales can present allegories and symbolism.
15. SOME FOLKTALES HAD ORIGINATED FROM
DREAMS AND UNCONSCIOUS EMOTIONS.
Psychoanalytic writers have studied those objects
or ideas which appear frequently in “fairy tales”.
They asserted that they are symbols of emotional
fantasies which people may experince in dreams.
16. So, the fatal questions,impossible tasks,and discomforts
help us in generating more and more folktales.
17. FOLKTALES:
Teach kids morals.(kindness,modesty,truthfulness,
courage and so many).
Remind the elders of what is appropriate and
proper.
Put a stamp of approval upon certain values held
by a group.
18. All the previous mentioned roles help communities in
explaining the ethical significance and the emotional
satisfaction they still hold for today and will hold for
tomorrow.
