Objective
 Describe ways of using Earth’s resources
sustainably (S7ES-IVd-5)
Connotation
1. Earth - the planet where we live on.
2. Resources - supply used for survival
3. Sustain - support, maintain
Activity 1
Listen to the song that will be presented and try to
identify its message. (5 minutes)
Analysis
1.What was the song all about?
2.What were the main concepts that has been
highlighted by the song?
1. What do you think nonrenewable
resources are?
2. What about non renewable
resources?
NONRENEWABLE RESOURCES
A nonrenewable resource is a natural resource
that cannot be re-made or re-grown at a scale
comparable to its consumption.
Example: NUCLEAR ENERGY
Nuclear fission uses uranium
to create energy.
Nuclear energy is a
nonrenewable resource
because once the uranium is
used, it is gone!
Examples: COAL, PETROLEUM, and GAS
Coal, petroleum, and natural gas
are considered nonrenewable
because they can not be
replenished in a short period of
time. These are called fossil
fuels.

RENEWABLE RESOURCES
Renewable resources are natural
resources that can be replenished in a
short period of time.

Example: SOLAR ENERGY

  • 11. NONRENEWABLE RESOURCES A nonrenewable resource is a natural resource that cannot be re-made or re-grown at a scale comparable to its consumption.
  • 12. Example: NUCLEAR ENERGY Nuclear fission uses uranium to create energy. Nuclear energy is a nonrenewable resource because once the uranium is used, it is gone!
  • 13. Examples: COAL, PETROLEUM, and GAS Coal, petroleum, and natural gas are considered nonrenewable because they can not be replenished in a short period of time. These are called fossil fuels.
