CREDIT FOR PROFICIENCY AT T.D.W.H.S Presentation to Parents about Basic CFP Principles and Techniques
learning Focus on what is learnt Specific Learning Targets (Proficiencies) are defined clearly for students Student studies are all focused on the Learning Targets Evidence of learning continuously sought by teachers Emphasis on the importance of learning for life and future survival
Standards All learning is linked to Standards –State, National or International Every subject is broken down into multiple Standards Learning Targets derive from each Standard Assessments evaluate that students have acquired the learning implied by the Standards
Assessments Students can only earn credits by being proficient in Assessments Assessments may be taken multiple times Students are expected to retake Assessments that are not Proficient Assessments are all formative Some Assessments are summative as well
GRADING	 To earn credit, students must earn A, B, or C grades Non credit work earns an ‘I’ An ‘A’ grade identifies Mastery A ‘C’ grade denotes Proficiency ‘I’ stands for both ‘Incomplete’ and ‘In Progress’ An ‘I’ grade can, and should, change to a Proficiency Grade
HOMEWORK AND CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS Usually these activities are not scored Are vital for practice Must be completed by students Should be reviewed by teachers to provide formative information for Teacher and Student
T. eacher a. ccesst. ime TAT is time each day teachers are available for students to relearn material, retake assessments and make-up for missed class time. TAT is time each day where teachers are required to support student learning through extra tutoring and support of students’ learning Students are expected to access TAT when they need academic support from teachers Students may be assigned to TAT by school staff for academic support purposes, in which case the student must be there
credit T.D.W.H.S. only issues credit for a mark of 70% or more Students need 26 credits to graduate with a regular North Wasco County School District Diploma The 26 regular Diploma Credits must include at least: 4 English 3 Math 3 Science 1 Health 1 PE 3.5 Social Studies

  • 1. CREDIT FOR PROFICIENCY AT T.D.W.H.S Presentation to Parents about Basic CFP Principles and Techniques

  • 3. learning Focus on what is learnt Specific Learning Targets (Proficiencies) are defined clearly for students Student studies are all focused on the Learning Targets Evidence of learning continuously sought by teachers Emphasis on the importance of learning for life and future survival
  • 4. Standards All learning is linked to Standards –State, National or International Every subject is broken down into multiple Standards Learning Targets derive from each Standard Assessments evaluate that students have acquired the learning implied by the Standards
  • 5. Assessments Students can only earn credits by being proficient in Assessments Assessments may be taken multiple times Students are expected to retake Assessments that are not Proficient Assessments are all formative Some Assessments are summative as well
  • 6. GRADING To earn credit, students must earn A, B, or C grades Non credit work earns an ‘I’ An ‘A’ grade identifies Mastery A ‘C’ grade denotes Proficiency ‘I’ stands for both ‘Incomplete’ and ‘In Progress’ An ‘I’ grade can, and should, change to a Proficiency Grade

TAT is time each day where teachers are required to support student learning through extra tutoring and support of students’ learning Students are expected to access TAT when they need academic support from teachers Students may be assigned to TAT by school staff for academic support purposes, in which case the student must be there
