Inspecting Outdoor Events in Augmented Reality.pptx

Nijmegen hosts several large outdoor events each year. E.g. the largest walk of the world (Nijmeegse Viergaagse). With a Digital Twin, we can manage these events more safely. We use FME to present the design files in augmented reality and check whether objects are in the correct position. We use a library of FBX files and a transformation matrix for this.

  12. 12. FME User Conference 20 22 Subset of the entire scene, on my table
  13. 13. FME User Conference 20 22 But does it work, with just a phone?
  14. 14. FME User Conference 20 22 Not really, what if we take a GNSS antenna?
  15. 15. FME User Conference 20 22 Much better!
  16. 16. FME User Conference 20 22 Now let’s see what the model looks like on site
  17. 17. FME User Conference 20 22 Is it better with LiDAR (iPhone 12 Pro)?
  18. 18. FME User Conference 20 22 More of this!
  19. 19. FME User Conference 20 22 Elevation is an issue
  20. 20. FME User Conference 20 22 What did we take away from this? Accuracy is a big issue. Need decent equipment Be near the anchor when loading the model Terrain can mess up the alignment A phone is not really suitable - Models shifts easily - Sun glare is an issue - Not hands free - Screen too small Not really interactive, besides walking around it Prior to build up we can see what the scene will be like and enforce changes Absense of objects or new objects can easily be made visible Holo-One makes the experience shareble
  21. 21. In the future Augmented Reality will help us organize safer events and improve the inspection process
