and/or recreation.
• This example connected to recreation, as the
“Government either indirectly or directly delivers
leisure and recreation services”, to provide;
recreation for healthy lifestyle to users,
recreation for users with disadvantages, and
value to society (Lunn, 2020, pg. 3).

• Similar to the public pool, this community centre
is open to the public for the “good of society;
[with] necessary services […] including fitness,
sport, age-related programs, events, arts,
leadership, etc (Lunn, 2020, pg. 3).
Why it connects to coaching, (physical) education,
and/or recreation.
• This example connected to recreation, as the
“Government either indirectly or directly delivers
leisure and recreation services”, to provide;
recreation for healthy lifestyle to users,
recreation for users with disadvantages, and
value to society (Lunn, 2020, pg. 3). As well,
this example is connected to coaching, as there
are services to incorporate athletes needs to
reach their goals

• This example is a public service sector as it is
”necessary for society [a] public good
(indirect/direct benefits to all) (Lunn, 2020, pg.

Why it connects to coaching, (physical) education,
and/or recreation.
• This example connects to physical education as
it is a required class in schools. This example
also connects to coaching, as all schools
provide after school curricular activities, which
include sports teams, where coaches/coaching
are needed.

• This is an example of the private/commercial
sector as this recreation and leisure service is
offered in a “consumer pays, and supplier
makes a profit” way (MacLean, Peterson, &
Martin, 1985, p. 220, as cited in Karlis, 2011, p.
79).
Why it connects to coaching, (physical) education,
and/or recreation.
• This is an example of recreation as already
mentioned it provides; for a healthy lifestyle to
users, for users with disadvantages, and a
value to society (Lunn, 2020, pg. 3).

private/commercial sector as this recreation

Why it connects to coaching, (physical) education,
and/or recreation.
• This is an example of recreation as “services
play a significant role in the creation of
cohesive and quality communities” (Lunn, 2020,
pg. 5).
