This document discusses the use of new media by civil society organizations in Bangladesh for social transformation. It outlines that while CSOs traditionally focus on research and programs, successful social transformation also requires effective communication with citizens and policymakers. The document analyzes the efficacy and adequacy of CSOs' new media use in Bangladesh, finding that they are missing opportunities to address digital divides and spread of disinformation. It recommends that CSOs improve their media literacy, generate more evidence on new media impacts, and utilize new media more to bridge gaps between citizens and the state through targeted, fact-based content.

In every activity taking place in the society, media acts as a mirror in that it seeks to reflect on all activities taking place in the society. Innovating Public Service Delivery Through Crowdsourcing: What Role for The T...CSCJournals
The purpose of this paper is to study the involvement of the “crowd” in designing innovative public policies, and the possibility for the Third Sector to play a role in this process. To do so, we want to answer the following research question: what is the extent to which crowdsourcing is adopted in financing and delivering public services within New Public Governance arenas? In order to answer it, we employ the following approach. First of all, we will set public innovation into the context of New Public Governance; secondly, we will analyse definitions for crowdsourcing, and thirdly, we will provide an overview and crisis of crowdsourcing examples to demonstrate their significance as novel forms of public service finance and delivery. This approach evidences the potential and the outcomes of applying crowdsourcing in the public sector, and indicates the role of the actors involved: the adoption of a leadership role by the Third Sector could facilitate crowdsourcing processes. The outcome of the application of crowdsourcing in the public sector is a greater involvement of the civil society in its relationship with the State.
Citizen participation is also sometimes seen as a solution to a quite different problem: shoring up the democratic legitimacy of governance processes. Representative democratic governance now faces several critical legitimating problems

The power and influence of social media has continued to grow globally over the past decade. During this period, the scope and scale of usage have changed dramatically, from the early days when social media was primarily fulfilling social needs of connectivity, communication, socialization and entertainment, to the current era, where social media applications are seen as important tools of governing, development, diplomacy and business. More recently, informational flows taking place through social media have been informing—and misinforming—public opinion and influencing policy development and political communication. For example, in 2015 and 2016, social media played a critical role in shaping public opinion internationally and on national levels, during numerous major events with global implications. During the past few years, as applications of “big data” and artificial intelligence continued to mature, the level of sophistication and influence of social media expanded further. As societal penetration rates increased, these data-driven applications started to provide deep insights into public views, sentiments, needs, behaviors and activities in numerous countries at unprecedented granular levels. The newfound insights harnessed through social media created new opportunities, as well as new risks.

ABSTRACT: Although a significant amount of literature exists on Morocco's migration policies and their
successes and failures since their implementation in 2014, there is limited research on the integration of subSaharan African children into schools. This paperis part of a Ph.D. research project that aims to fill this gap. It
reports the main findings of a study conducted with migrant children enrolled in two public schools in Rabat,
Morocco, exploring how integration is defined by the children themselves and identifying the obstacles that they
have encountered thus far. The following paper uses an inductive approach and primarily focuses on the
relationships of children with their teachers and peers as a key aspect of integration for students with a migration
background. The study has led to several crucial findings. It emphasizes the significance of speaking Colloquial
Moroccan Arabic (Darija) and being part of a community for effective integration. Moreover, it reveals that the
use of Modern Standard Arabic as the language of instruction in schools is a source of frustration for students,
indicating the need for language policy reform. The study underlines the importanceof considering the
children‟s agency when being integrated into mainstream public schools.

Improving Workplace Safety Performance in Malaysian SMEs: The Role of Safety ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: In the Malaysian context, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) experience a significant
burden of workplace accidents. A consensus among scholars attributes a substantial portion of these incidents to
human factors, particularly unsafe behaviors. This study, conducted in Malaysia's northern region, specifically
targeted Safety and Health/Human Resource professionals within the manufacturing sector of SMEs. We
gathered a robust dataset comprising 107 responses through a meticulously designed self-administered
questionnaire. Employing advanced partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques
with SmartPLS 3.2.9, we rigorously analyzed the data to scrutinize the intricate relationship between safety
behavior and safety performance. The research findings unequivocally underscore the palpable and
consequential impact of safety behavior variables, namely safety compliance and safety participation, on
improving safety performance indicators such as accidents, injuries, and property damages. These results
strongly validate research hypotheses. Consequently, this study highlights the pivotal significance of cultivating
safety behavior among employees, particularly in resource-constrained SME settings, as an essential step toward
enhancing workplace safety performance.

Traditionally, the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Bangladesh is
focused on conducting rigorous analytical research, providing policy
recommendations, and engaging in programmatic interventions through
various development initiatives.

largely depends on active civic engagement and the affirmative political
will of policymakers.
It requires multidimensional approaches, embedded with effective
communication tools, to adequately engage the citizens, policymakers and
other relevant stakeholders in the social transformation process. In this
backdrop, this paper makes an effort to explore the effectiveness and extent
of utilization of new media by the CSOs in Bangladesh towards affirmative

their media literacy and capacity to use new digital platforms in bridging
the growing digital-divide among citizens and institutions. Otherwise, the
vast array of disinformation will continue to distort the social harmony and
peace, resulting into political unrest.
The paper uses recent national and international incidents, having direct

Analysis
Role of civil society in social transformation
According to social anthropologist Ernest Gellner, from his Conditions of
Liberty (1994), civil society is a set of institutions, which is strong enough to
counterbalance the state and whilst not preventing the state from fulfilling
the role of keeper of peace and arbitrator between major interests, can,
nevertheless, prevent the state from dominating and atomizing the rest of
society.
The primary actors of civil society include people/individuals and
organizations such as scholars, development activists, religious influencers,
media, private sector and philanthropic organizations. In ideal situation, civil
society provide guidance to the state and citizens towards an inclusive social
harmony towards strengthening democracy.

New media are regarded as the media platforms particularly associated with
using internet and managed digitally by computational redistribution
mechanisms. Examples of new media may include websites, social media
applications, virtual platforms, new addition meta-verse etc.
In contradiction “old media” such television, radio, and print media, new
media does not include analog broadcast TV programs, feature films,
magazines or books – unless they contain digital interactive processes. (Lev
Manovich 2003) .
In late 1980s, internet has been invented which later is designated as “new

Adequacy in use of new media by civil society of Bangladesh
In view of ensuring social cohesion and harmony, as the key element of
democracy, the CSOs should be the frontrunner in generating evidence and
improving knowledge of various aspects of social apparatus.
It requires pre-event interventions and insight for social trajectories. Now-a-
days we unfortunately see that, from the US elections to COVID vaccination –
disinformation impacts us all.
As the local/national/international traditional media platforms are adapting
with the new media trends - it is time now to rethink and reassess the impact
