Main area of activity:
I will be doing Video Game animation this would mainly include Photoshop. However, I will still
need to use Premiere Pro to add sound effects and sequence them together. I will also be doing
some advertisement which means some print work as well.
Rationale: Throughout the year I have made a music video, a scary story, and some poster and
animation for advertisement. Some skills I have learned is how to effective planning is and how the
use of that can make your production be more successful. I have also learned more on how pixel
art works and how certain animation works and what works well and what does not. I have learned
that research and planning can make your production a lot easier and get more content made if
you use your time effectively. My previous production was pixel art, this gave me a good
understanding of what I can make and how I can make it. The reason I have decided to make my
project in this specific area is because this allows me to develop more skills in photoshop and
Premiere which will help me in the future as I would like to work in Video editing industry the future.
Project Concept: For my project I am going to make a game in pixel art for a mobile phone this
will include a game trailer, some gameplay after the trailer, a phone icon and some poster and
banners for advertisements. This will be more of a story-based game where you follow a story but
can also go off in little adventures to explore some side story missions. The game will be in
Different Biomes/Environments which helps keep the game engaging and develops the story more
as you not just in one place. I think the research I would conduct would be a lot of pixel art games
that are more open world type based to see how they are laid out and what key details they have
added. I think this will help me when it comes to planning as I will have even more of an
understanding of what works well in pixel art games and what might be too time consuming to do
or make. I also think researching about non pixel art mobile will help me in my production as I can
see what type of animation they have done and find out why they might have done the menu a
certain way is it might appeal more for a younger target audience or be easier to use on a mobile. I
would look at similar games like Zelda and Mario and find out what their target audience is and
why they have done that and then I would start thinking about the audience towards my game and
then use the story and colours to appeal to that.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: For my evaluation each week I would reflect
on the work I have produced and look for any areas of improvement. Doing this would help me
keep track of the work I have done and if I need to find time to improve it. If I had to improvise in a
certain area of production, I would put that in my reflection and explain why I have made them
changes and the impact it has on my final project. For my final evaluation I would start by reading
everything in my reflection diary and taking out the key changes I made and see if that worked and
made my project better. If this wasn’t the case, I would start thinking about why and what needed
to be done instead.

Due 21st of march. Explain why I have chosen
what I want to do for my FMP and look at other
game designers to see how they work.

Looking at whatI did the previous week and look at
existing products to see whattechniques they all use
and then experimenting with that before my
production. This should be done by the 4th
of April if it
looks like I cannot finish by that time I mighthave to
finish it off at home to be able to hand in on time.
4 Pre-Production and planning For my pre-production Iwould like to be able to have a
solid plan before I start the production process as then
this will help significantlywith time managementas I
have a good idea of what I want to make and how I
would make that.
5 Production and reflections For production I would like to have a few backgrounds
for the trailer made in the easter holidays as then
when we come back,I have a head startin the
animation.This would also give me enough time to
look back and see if there is anyways to improve my
work.
6 Production and reflections On this week I would hopefully still be on track with
everything I want to make and hopefullywould of
nearly finish the trailer and start go on to some
gameplay.This should be a bit quicker than the trailer
as I would alreadyhave some assets made from the
trailer I can use for the gameplay.
7 Production and reflections At this pointin the production period, I would like to of
had all my animation work nearlycompleted so I can
focus on making some poster to advertise my game.

8 Production and reflections For the last week of my production, I would
hopefully have the 3 main things made and I
could spend some time making some small
things for the game like a small poster for the
phone icon as this game would be played on a
phone.
9 Evaluation For my evaluation I would like to be able to really
focus on why I have done certain things and
what the effect has on my product and try and
move away from just what I have done and why.
