DigiFin Workshop
DigiFin is a media production ran by founder, Lee Axon. He is a self taught cinematographer,
photographer and videographer. He specialises in promotional material for businesses and has
countless positive testimonials from his clients. He has worked on promotional materials for
luxury car manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Newcastle where he shot a promotional video to
advertise the dealership, he has taken photos of a McLaren P1 to be featured in an American
automotive magazine and worked with GTR Heritage Centre to promote their business, which is
specialising in repair/detailing work for modern and classic Japanese sports cars such as the R34
Skyline and Subaru Impreza.
He began filming on an iPhone XS and continued shooting on iPhones until he recently purchased
2 Sony A74SII cameras. Lee is the soul employee of the business and handles all of the
cinematography, videography, editing and photography, which he says is a lot of responsibility
and effort but says he ‘loves a challenge’.
From this workshop, I learned about the capabilities of day to day technology such as our mobile
phones and their potential to create visually stunning products and how you don’t need expensive
high end equipment to make a professional looking video. It made me think about how advanced
smartphone technology has become and wonder what the future of this kind of technology has to
hold and the way this technology can be implemented in the creation of digital media.
I also learned a lot about freelancing work and the benefits of working for yourself and other
potential careers in the media industry. Lee proved to us that determination is the most
important thing you can have when it comes to achieving your passions. Lee shows this as he
never had any formal training in video production and was originally a personal trainer.
