learning. These vary according to the context and
subject matter to be learned.
 Signal learning
 Stimulus- Response learning
 Principle learning
 Concept learning
Signal Learning
 The individual learns to make a precise response to a
signal. It is also called as S-R learning.
 The learner acquires a precise response to the
discriminated stimulus. What is learned is a connection
or in Skinnerian terms, a discriminated operant,
sometimes called an instrumental response.
Principle Learning
 It includes the list of concepts. It has essentially the
concept learning as a pre-condition of this learning.
Concept learning
 The learner acquires the ability to make a common
response to a class of stimuli, even through the
individual members of that class differ widely form
each other.
 The learner is able to make a response that identifies
an entire class of objects of events.
General Factors
 All learners have general factors which are social,
cognitive, and effective in nature.
 General factors of individual differences comprise the
following factors:
Age
Aptitude
Personality
Motivation
General Factors
 An effective and productive learning-teaching process
can be planned by considering these differences of the
students .
 Since the learners own learning speed and interests
vary, these characteristics should be taken into
consideration by the teacher.
 In the process of learning-teaching, it is necessary for
the teacher to plan learning by taking these individual
differences into considerations.
 It will also lead to a more efficient learning
environment.
