3. HaloSource Business Units & Technologies
HaloSource operates four business units:
• Drinking Water
• Environmental Water
• Recreational Water
• Antimicrobial Textiles
HaloSource products are founded on two core technologies:
• Synthetic polymer (N-halamine)
• Natural biopolymers
4. What is HaloPure®?
HaloPure is the most unique and revolutionary drinking water
disinfection technology to come about in more than 15 years.
HaloPure is a novel, non-electric contact biocide manufactured in the
form of insoluble beads that kill viruses and bacteria on contact.
HaloPure is integrated into a wide variety of household point-of-use
water devices.
Disinfection is achieved without compromising taste, odor, or appearance
5. How HaloPure® is used:
We engineer a customized solution for your
needs
This solution is typically a cartridge or sub-
component filled with HaloPure media
The exact design characteristics of the cartridge are
specifically engineered to allow you to meet your
performance goals and claims

15. Objective
Upgrade drinking pitcher to kill
bacteria and viruses
Problem
-No viral or bacteria reduction with
existing units
-Long-term biofilm growth
-Customer lack of trust in tap water
Case Study: Pitcher
16. Solution
Design of custom insert into
existing cartridge
Results
-3 log (99.9%) reduction in E.
coli and MS2 over life of
cartridge
-Minimal impact to flow rate
-Use as before, 450 liter
lifespan
18. Objective
Retro fit HaloPure into plastic gravity
feed canisters for the Indian
marketplace
Problem
-Inconsistent viral and bacteria
reduction
-Foul tasting water from residual
iodine
-Health concerns from use of iodine
based resin
Case Study: Gravity Canister
19. Results
-3 log reduction in E. coli and MS2
over 3000 L capacity
-Elimination of taste and odor
complaints from customers
Solution
Use the existing design and tooling
size and optimize the amount of
HaloPure
21. Objective
Create an add-on solution to existing RO
systems that prevents heterotrophic
contamination in the bladder tank
Problem
-Growth of HPCs in treated water post
RO system in the bladder tank
-No residual disinfection
-Customer complaints of fouled water
-Increased regulatory compliance
requirements
Case Study: RO HPC Control
22. - Designed in-house supplementary HP
disinfection “cage” into GAC T-33 cartridge
- Water passes before entering
tank, and again before faucet exit
Solution
24. Objective
Eliminate biofilm that fouls nearly all
water piping and tubing
Problem
-Long-term formation of biofilm
-Biofilm propagates backwards as well
as forwards through a water system
Case Study: General Biofilm
26. Solution
Insert a small cartridge
of HaloPure in-line to
kill HPCs as well as
impart a low level of a
protective residual into
the water
Results
Biofilm accumulation
reduced by 4-5 log
(99.99-99.999%) over
the entire 5 month
study.
27. Case Study: Chilled Water
Objective
Upgrade chilled water dispenser to control
biofilm growth
Problem
Existing cartridge did not meet Brazilian
Association of Technical Standards
(ABNT) 14908 for biological standards
in drinking water systems
28. Solution
Custom designed HaloPure insert to fit
into existing cartridge’s footprint
Results
-Third party certification
-ABNT standards for biological
reduction and chlorine reduction
-Minimum 2 log reduction in E. coli
-Prevention of biological growth in
system
HaloPure
29. Case Study: Inline Cartridge
Objective
Design a primary disinfection
cartridge compatible with
commercially available housings
Problem
-High pressure drop in existing
filtration products (requiring high
inlet pressure)
-Clogging and low lifespan of
existing filtration products
-Existing filtration products can’t
deliver on disinfection (bacteria
and virus reduction)
30. Solution
Format HaloPure packing to fit
standard 10inch water filter
housing, using Plekx spiral
wound membrane technology.
Results
-Continuous 3 log reduction in
E. coli over 15,000 L
-Pressure drop less than 1 psi
at 3lpm without clogging issues
-Use as before, retrofittable to
existing base
32. Case Study: Safe Storage
Problem:
Storage of water purified by any means often leads to re-
contamination, from dirty hands, dirty vessels & environmental sources.
33. Solution:
Protect the purified water in storage by delivering
enough halogen to inactivate microbial
contaminants.

HS is a company focused on improving the quality of water in a range of business segments;1) HaloPure – The disinfection of drinking water at the point of use, in households around the world2) HaloShield - Safe drinking water chemistry lends itself to deployment of HS antimicrobial technology in novel textiles for consumer use. In the USA, this product is applied to textiles being sold nationally into 20,000 Wal-Mart and Target stores.3) Sea Klear – The clarification and safety of recreational water (pool and spa market), mostly domestically, some international markets4) Storm Klear – Storm and Industrial water management, focused on complying with discharge requirements into natural bodies of water under the US clean water act
Commonly used materials in water filtration devices. We want to highlight that these are only effective against organics, tastes, metals, and cyst/parasites. They have only some effect on bacteria killing, and no effect on virus killing. So using these devices on their own where the input water if filled with bacteria and viruses does NOT offer true microbiological purification. Adding a HaloPure cartridge downstream of this treatment train will give you truly safe drinking water because HaloPure kills bacteria and viruses ON CONTACT.
We’ve developed greater clarity around the true strategic value of HaloPure technology which has required us to challenge assumptions and revise positioning as we engage with potential partners. We can solve microbiological issues is very simple sand/sediment filters. We can turn ceramic canisters from ‘filters’ into “purifiers”We complement the organic & inorganic claims of carbon by adding bacteria and virus killWe blow other resin-based technologies out of the water – literally….We’re a fail-safe back-up for high-end UV systems….And, HaloPure offers the solution to the nasty recontamination problems of HPC bacteria in the storage tanks of RO systems. We’re game-changing, some would say we’re even disruptive…..and our time is NOW!
