The Opportunity
This multi-national bank has a history in the Middle East that is older
than the UAE itself. A brand name with millions of customers all over

This universal bank has robust offerings in Private Banking, Wholesale
Banking, Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, and Investment Banking.
The Trade Market Manager will report directly to the Regional Head of
Trade Control Function, who reports into the Global Head of Trade
Control Function, who in turn reports into the Chief Risk Officer Global
Banking & Markets. The team sits on the trading floor and has direct
interaction with the Front Office and support area staff at all levels on a
daily basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving
change in market risk area of the bank.
The Role
Corporate Strategy
As a second line of defense and specialist function, the Trade Market
Manager (TMM) is responsible for providing assurance that the Global
Markets business is operating within risk appetite with respect to
trade capture, position keeping and mitigating exposure to
inappropriate trading risk by overseeing and challenging the
effectiveness of the risk and control activities conducted by the
business.
The TMM will do this by monitoring against, independently escalating
exceptions to, and driving change in trade capture standards as well as
trade validation and inappropriate trading control standards. Daily
exception management and ownership of issues and leadership and
co-ordination of their remediation front to back.
The main focus will be on trade capture as well as trade validation and
inappropriate trading controls. In essence providing the bank with a
second line of defense and will require a holistic understanding of the
trade function in the bank and all its products.

The TMM will be a key decision maker and will be responsible for driving change
and creating impact in the trade function. The successful candidate will
play a key role in managing the Trade Capture and Inappropriate
Trading Risk. This will have a direct impact on profitability and the
achievement of high level business objectives.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and be
able to manage high level discussions with Desk heads, Global Markets
Business Heads, CFOs and Business Managers, and Senior Management
in support areas (mainly Risk, Operations, Product Control and IT) and
Internal Audit. The chosen incumbent will be a natural team player
and will enjoy working in a group environment.
The TMM will monitor the metrics required to measure adherence to
control standards relating to Trade Capture and Inappropriate
Trading Risk Review metrics.
Candidate Qualifications
Experience
Relevant experience working in investment banking within an
Operations or Control Function that could include Product
Control, Middle Office, Trade Support, Operational Risk, Internal
Audit or other Risk function (Market, Credit, Compliance or
Security and Fraud).
A good knowledge of the Global Markets Products across
equities, FX and fixed income and the key processes and controls
within Global Markets Front Office and support areas.
Experience with numerical analysis, including experience with MS
Excel.

risk.
Holistic understanding of the trade function and its inherent
risks complimented by commanding knowledge of the bank’s
capital market products.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Creative approach to problem solving.
Attention to detail and intimate understanding of regulatory
requirements, audit processes and control standards.
Experience and Credentials Required
8+ years of prior experience in Market Risk. A university degree in
business or related field or equivalent qualification.
