3. The garage’s appearance is not so
outstanding.
As the name tells you, the garage looks
just as normal as a storeroom, while
actually it is a cave with treasure inside.
The garage is at the back of Lily’s Hall.
There are two trailers of PSR club beside
the garage.
PULSAR and Sport-ii are stored in trailers.

4. The garage is well separated
and make students work
efficiently.
•The 1st floor consists of
two 14ft*22ft rooms, a
conference room and the
workshop.
•The 2nd floor is a storage
room.

5. There is a wall with full series of spanners, Boxes of screws and nuts
screw driver, saws, pliers and hammers are placed in a cabinet.
6. There is a 6ft*3ft table in the working shop, A driller table and a grinder are
which is big enough for both manufacturing available for simple
and assembling the vehicle. manufacture process.
7. In the conference room, there are 2 long
tables that allow 20 people to discuss
together as 2 separated groups.
In the 2nd floor, all of the materials like
honey cone or carbon fiber are stored
in big shelves.
The storage room in the 2nd floor
makes the workshop and conference
room always tidy and clean.
8. PSR was found since 1993, aiming at building
competitive solar powered vehicle and educating
the public about renewable energy.
3 main teams, aero-dynamic team, electrical team
and mechanical team work together.
There are a lot of chances to have hand on
experiences.
9. PSR's first vehicle was finished in 1993,
but it did not qualify for the Sunrayce
in 1993.
Heliophile Pi was a major redesign for the
team. PSR was also awarded the
Sportmanship Award for the helpful hand
lent to Ohio State after an accident.

10. SPOT I placed 13th in the 2003 North
American Solar Challenge. It was the
first of PSR's cars to be constructed of
carbon fiber and a composite chassis.
PULSAR is PSR's seventh car. It is the
smallest and lightest PSR car to date.

11. Aero-dynamic group is in charge of
generating the model that have the
least air resistance.
Mechanical group is responsible
for designing the driving system.
Electrical group works on transferring
solar energy into the engine.

12. The day I took these picture from the
garage, they are test two materials to
make the under pan of the vehicle.
1. Cut down carbon fiber.
2. Wax the carbon fiber sheet.
3. Put on ‘glue’.
4. Attach honey cone and fiber.
13. Purdue engineering education focuses on
hand on experience and teamwork.
The engineering school provides class like
ENGR 195, and EPICS, give students chances
to practice the skills that are important in
future employment.
These programs and classes, just like PSR,
lead student the next step of technology
knowledge, to use the knowledge in real
engineering.
