2. Designer Profile
Shivaji Dutta had an intuitive appreciation of art and philosophy as a youth. His first
passion was Political Science. It was when he attended the National Institute of Fashion
Technology, Kolkata (Textile Design) during his undergraduate years that he became
particularly interested in designing.
Concept being the most important part of designing, he tries to adapt to situations with
sustainability as the focal point of his creations.
Sustainability has always been a fascinating and challenging term to work with, in terms of
creating high-end fashion garments. Re-use being a very integral part of sustainable design
has merit and demerits of its own. The challenge is to apply the demerit and make it an
advantage while designing the products. Reuse is always looked upon as a second hand issue
but eliminating it and creating a greater impact in the consumers mind by not projecting it
as a used product is what the concept is all about.

3. “One man's trash is other man's treasure” is what the label BLANK SPOT by
Shivaji Dutta all about. Making new and wearable garments from old garments
and other used and unused material makes the base for label. Using such kind
of material is what makes the brand unique. Recycling other materials also
requires a lot of energy consumption which in return effects the environment.
So the stress is more on reusing and not recycling. Cutting the matter short,
using unused, unwanted and old material, new things can be achieved. As
Mahatma Gandhi said “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

5. Lakme Fashion Week
Winter Festive 2012
The collection is inspired by the complexities of the
human mind and the interweaving of memories both
light and dark. The collection speaks about how easily
these vivid memories can take forms and shapes.

Autumn Winter 2013-14
Breaking tradition rules of embroidery and using only leather as
an embroidery material to create different evolution of pattern
from one sphere to another. Fluidity of shape from being organic
to geometric is for me "The Modern Way" of living.

Winter Festive 2012
Changes come and changes go.
Eternity stays, if that is so,
Clear skies up above with sun rising high
Get covered with a cloud by the isle.
Kingdom comes and kingdom goes.
Eternity they said, and still to go,
Rising above the sky was the mountain
Washed down with rain to a trouble.
Love came and love went.
Eternity was said with a dent,
Roses were plucked with thorns
Only to be deserted by shadows.
Soldier comes and soldier goes.
Eternity he said again so.
Fighting with arms brothers alike,
Makes a nation again, twice.
