  1. 1. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) & HEALTH CARE Prepared by: Mr.NIKHIL RAJ Associate Professor
  2. 2. Introduction  Artificial intelligence has an unimaginable potential. Within in the next couple of years, it will revolutionize every area of our life, including medicine. It will redesign healthcare completely and for the better. We are going to experience the Fourth industrial Revolution.ie 1. Steam Power 2. Automobile 3. Computer 4. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (A.I)
  3. 3. What is mean by A.I  “Every aspects of learning or any other features of intelligence can in principle be so precisely described that a machine can be made to stimulate it. An attempts will be made to find how to make machines use language, form abstractions and concepts, solve kinds of problems now reserved for humans, and improve themselves.  It is branch of computer science
  4. 4. History of A.I  The field of A.I Research was born at a workshop at Dartmouth college in 1956  Attendees.  Allen New ell  Herbert Simon  John Mc Carthy  Marvin Minsk’s  Arthur Samuel  become the founders and leaders of A.I Research.
  5. 5. Branches of AI  Speech recognition.  Natural language programming.  Robotics.  Computer vision.  Pattern recognition.  Machine learning.
  6. 6. Speech recognition  It is the ability of a machine or program to identify words and phrases in spoken language and convert them to a Machine- readable format.  Ex.  Google Docs voice typing  Apple Dictation  Windows speech recognition.
  7. 7. Natural language programming  N.L.P is an ontology-assisted way of programming in terms of natural language sentences  Natural language processing is a sub field of computer science, information engineering, and artificial intelligence concerned with the interactions between computers and human languages  Applications of NLP:-  Speech Recognition.  Sentimental analysis.  Machine translation.  Chat boats
  8. 8. Robotics  It is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science  These technologies are used to develop machines that can substitute for humans and replicate human actions.  Ex. Hanson robotics “SOPHIA”.  Mayfield robotics “KURI”.  Soni robotics “AIBO”.
  9. 9. “SOPHIA”
  10. 10. Computer Vision  Computer vision is the science and technology of machines that see.  Interpret and understand information in images or video.
  11. 11. Pattern Recognition  Pattern recognition is the ability to detect arrangements of characteristics or data that yield information about a given system or data set.
  12. 12. Machine learning  Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being programmed.
  13. 13.  Machine learning(Deep learning)  Techniques:-  Supervisory learning.  Unsupervised learning.  Reinforcements learning.
  14. 14. Uses of AI in Health care settings  Predicting ICU Transfers.  Medical Testing.  Improving Clinical workflow.  Predicting HAI  Predicting Hospital readmission.  Sepsis prevention.
  15. 15. Predicting ICU Transfers.  Studies show that patients who undergo an unplanned transfer to the ICU Experience worse outcomes than patients admitted directly.  A.I models can be used to find patients who are likely to crash. The machine learning models use patient medical records, laboratory results, and vital signs from patient to find early warning signals.
  16. 16. Predicting ICU Transfers
  17. 17. Medical Testing.  Bloodless blood test:-  A new way of detecting fluctuations of blood posttasium levels that patients could easily perform at home without drawing blood.  Method:–  Smartphone technology in combination with algorithmic analysis of ECG recordings.
  18. 18. ECG Variations showing in 🍏 ⌚️
  19. 19. Bloodless Revolution in Diabetes Monitoring
  20. 20. A.I in Drug Study 📖
  21. 21. Improving Clinical workflow  According to a2019 Medscape National Physician 👨⚕️ Burnout, depression & suicide Report,  Burnout-44%  Depression-11%
  22. 22. ACCU VEIN- VEIN VIEWER.
  23. 23. Predicting. HAI.  Infection control with “MONI”  Monitoring of nosocomial infections.  MONI is an intelligent tool for detection and surveillance of health care-associated infections in intensive care medicine.  It is linked with the medical documentation systems of a health care institution and automatically imports electronic clinical and laboratory raw data to process it into surveillance information.
  24. 24. MONITORING OF NOSOCOMIAL INFECTION (MONI)
  25. 25. Sepsis prevention.  Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) healthcare has used its sepsis prediction and optimization of therapy tool (SPOT)  SPOT is designed to monitor available data every moment of every day, and when combinations of lab data that are consistent with sepsis are detected, the system responds by alerting clinicians so they can more quickly intervene with potentially life saving treatment for you or your loved one.
  26. 26. Managing medical records and other data  Data management is the most widely used application of artificial intelligence and digital automation, robots collect, store, re- format, and trace data to provide faster, more consistent access.
  27. 27. Doing repetitive jobs  Analyzing tests, X-Rays, C T scans, data entry, and other tasks can all be done faster and more accurately by robots.  Cardiology and Radiology are two disciplines where the amount of data to analyze can be overwhelming and time consuming.  The cardiologists and radiologists in future should only look only most complicated cases where human supervision is useful.
  28. 28. COVID-19 and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE  AI to identify, track. and forecast outbreaks.  AI to help diagnose the Virus ex Alibababa- AI powered giagnose system.  Process health care claims.  Drones deliver medical supplies.  Robots sterilize, deliver food and supplies and perform other task
  29. 29.  Develop drugs.  Ex. Googles deep mind( to study the proteins that make up the virus)  Ex.BenevolentAI ( to build drugs)
  30. 30.  AI to identify non- compliance or infected individuals  Ex China‘s sophisticated surveillance system used facial recognition technology and temperature detection software from SENSE TIME.  Smart helmet.  Health code( monitoring system)
