Overview:

Present system for ECG and EEG

What is ELECTRONIC SKIN ?

Advantages of it over present system.

Applications.
Introduction:

 Electronics play a very important role
in developing simple devices used for
  any purpose.
 The best achievement as well the
  future example of integrated
electronics in the medical field is The
  Electronic skin.
 The functioning of heart
    checked with the help of
    standard instruments
    which involves the
    concept of propagation of
    waves inside the body.
EEG system

It is used for
recording
of electrical
activity along
the scalp.
Electronic skin
 Ultra thin
electronic device.
Attaches to the
skin like a stick-on
tattoo.
Can measure
electrical activity
of the heart ,brain
waves & other
vital signs.
 Idea : borrowed directly from kids’
    temporary transfer tattoos.

 Attaches itself through weak forces of
    molecular attraction called Van de
    Waals interactions.

Circuitry − "spider web" of materials:
    narrow snake-like silicon filaments that
serve as wires connected to tiny
    sensors designed to monitor particular
    bodily functions.
Working:
 Temperature sensors are used for measuring the
  temperature.
 Strain gauges are used for measuring the signals
  generated by the heart.
 Antenna is used for transmitting the recorded signals
  of skin to the receiver.
0ther Applications:
Takes the signals of the body and
transfer them to machines in other
 ways :-

 Muscle contractions in the neck can
control the mouse in a computer
  game.
 Localized electrical stimulation;
   "smart bandage" : Temperature
  changes across a wound.
DEVELOPED BY:

 The scientists at the University of Illinois,
  Northwestern University in Illinois, Tufts
University in Massachusetts, the Institute of
  High Performance Computing in Singapore
and Dalian University of Technology in China.
ADVANTAGES:
 Reduces wires.
 Compact in size, less in weight.
 The device is so floppy, and flexible.
 DISADVANTAGES:
Cost is high

Single use
Future Scope:

 In future even virtual screens may be
placed on the device for knowing our
    body functions.
Conclusion:
 The Electronic
    devices gain more
demand in the market when they are
compact in size and best at functioning.

 The Electronic skin is one such device
which depicts the beauty of electronics
and its use in daily life.
