2. An Introduction
Pharmacy course is among the most popular courses in
India. It is the profession which supplies medicines for
various diseases & health problems.
Initially Pharmacy was commonly considered as a
shop (Medical Store or Chemist) where medicines are
being sold or prepared.
But basically it is a Biomedical Science that deals with
the preparation, doses, dispensing and effects
(including safety) of medicines.
Its objective is to ensure the safe & effective use of
pharmaceutical drugs.
3. The scope of pharmacy practice includes not only
traditional roles such as compounding & dispensing
medications but it also includes more modern
services related to health care including clinical
services, reviewing medications for safety &
efficacy & providing drug information.
Pharmacy today has transformed into a hub for the
‘Global Healthcare’.
They advise, counsels, educates & aware people/
patients.
