back to base metal and re-painted in it’s original colours whilst the station was live. JMS
nominated for Heritage award for this project.
• Worked on the Cathcart Circle coper alteration scheme for the 350 gauging works, completed
the Stockport bridge infill and removal. Installed the POGO system across Mid Wales,
completed a bridge refurbishment under blockade at Blackburn, and handed over Birchwood
AFA scheme.
• Currently clearing disused feeder station for NWR usage. All works during this time were
completed ahead of programme. At present awaiting his CRE delegate sign off.

• Working on a number of sites throughout the country on various schemes from Drainage to
Bridges with some station refurbishment. Whilst working on Bridge refurbishment the beams
were transported by road rail vehicle and trailer, transferred to the lifting frame and moved
into position by traditional hand chain blocks thus ensuring a safe mode and also a more
precise delivery.

manager.In charge of small projects to begin with i.e. warehouse building and small housing projects as
Site Manager.
• Running all disciplines and liaising with the contractors and local authorities at all levels. In 1999 was site
manager for a project in the Isle of Man building the new hospital in Douglas, which was a government
contract and joint venture with EPH/Crowe.
Simon was in charge from the land stripping to internal works stage.
Alongside a team of engineers’ foremen and QS we installed all the roads relevant street lighting
along with traffic mediation to include CCTV New Build Hospital from Greenfield site through to
handover – value £65m.

• Worked as Site Manager but originally as General Foreman. Worked as Site Agent on the A6
Bypass in charge of 3 bridges and the largest installation of culverts in Europe at the time
value of job in excess of £110 million plus the installation on of the new A6 along with
associated drainage.
• Was in charge of bridge construction and the extension of an airport, land reclamation and the
installation of fibre optic cables to various equipment accommodation modules plus the
construction of the Halon filled modules. He was also directly accountable to the project
Manager and had to liaise with a multinational work force. During this time Simon had multiple
sub-contractors and their management teams reporting to himself and his section managers
and general foremen and foremen.
• During his stay with Tarmac Simon was promoted to General Foreman and then to Site
Manager. Various major projects in Hong Kong, Bahrain, Gibraltar. Bridges Airport extensions
and land reclamation.
