2. Below are the song lyrics by NEO:
Naziv Pesme: Ti bi, ti bi
Treba nam
malo da
budemo
zajedno
Ti bi, ti bi
da budemo
divlji, divlji
zalutao/la
hajde skini
da dobro vidim
sto se stidiš ()
a soba prazna je
sve je drugačije
sve više hladnije
čujem se glasnije i jasnije
znam ti sve namere
sve loše navike
u klubu paniče
kad vide kako dobro igraš
Song Name: You would, you would
We need to
be for a bit
together
You would, you would
for us to be
wild, wild
and lost
come on take it off
so I can better see you
why are you ashamed
The room is empty
everything is different
It is colder
I can hear myself louder and clearer
I know all your intentions
all your bad habits
They panic in the club
when they see how well you dance
3. Song Critical Deconstruction
Considering the overreaching influence of trap and hip-hop, the popularity
of the genres, and the corresponding culture; it is imperative to analyze and
interpret the origin of themes portrayed in this song.
The primary themes that are usually depicted in those types of music
include: the glorification of criminal activity; the duality of status and
authenticity negotiation, and the sexual objectification of women.
Upon closer analysis of the lyrics, the content depicts intimate relationship,
which seems one of the main staple within the trap/hip-hop music industry.
While reading the lyrics we can easily see that this type of concept is told
from male perspective and it is aimed at predominantly male audience.
In contrast to most trap/hip hop song of similar type which relies on use of
various crude phrases, which with no doubt can be seen as offensive to the
female gender, this song is not explicit in it content but it is rather
suggestive.
This song does not illustrates an obvious indicator of female objectification,
but the lyrics do not take on more aggressive and graphic turn as in most
similar songs.
4. Even if the content of this song is not explicit, the song in its suggestive lyrics together
with beats, bass lines, hooks and swerves has metaphoric innuendo.
This song depicts relationship in terms of two people’s doubts and desires in their
relationship. It revolves around what seems to be a fun relationship where both halves
are free to act how they want, yet the male partner is more persuasive. The woman is
confused as to why, despite their fun, the man lacks trust and shows note of jealousy
when she is dancing in the club.
If we read between the lines, this song can be interpreted beyond a sexual narrative, and
can be regarded as a story of sexual longing.
In today’s music, a majority of songs contain some sort of sexual reference. The music
industry today almost thrives on sex as the common saying “sex sells” certainly applies.
As females who are determined to fulfill project criteria as well as artist needs and wants
we will make sure that our music video does not reinforce the content that is dominant in
videos for this type of music.
In our video we will not include:
• men having power over women
• sex as a top priority for males
• the objectification of women,
• sexual violence against women
• women being defined by having a man
• women as not valuing themselves
