2. How Old Are You? These results helped to show me the age group for our target audience. I found that the wide majority of people were ages 15-30 years old.
3. What’s Your Occupation? This chart shows that the majority of people are students. This means I shall be aiming my production at mainly students, although there are a wide range of different occupations.
4. How many films have you seen within the last 3 months? This chart shows that the people who completed my questionnaire are film fans, as atleast half of them watched 4-5 films within just 3 months
5. What’s your preferred genre? From my questionnaire I have found out that thriller was obviously the preferred genre, although drama and comedy also had very high ratings. This means my production will be a Thriller.
6. What do you expect from your preferred genre? I have taken the results from my previous question that showed me that ‘Thriller’ was the preferred genre, and found out that the people who said thriller as their preferred genre expected things such as “scenes of realism, making them feel as if it is actually happening”... “Dull colours and poorly lit scenes are what I tend to notice”.. “I want to be on the edge of my seat worrying, I expect suspense and tension” .. to be shown in their favourite genre, my results showed me many different views these are just a few of the most common ones.
7. What attracts you to certain films? My research found that the majority of the people that completed my questionnaire like to see a good story line and actors/actresses within a film. This means we will need a very interesting storyline rather than focussing on the special effects, although they are both important.
8. If you had the choice, what Actors/ Actresses would you cast in a film? I allowed people to answer freely as I know people have many different views on the endless, different actors/actresses. Johnny Depp had many votes as well as Keira Knightly, I was not surprised when their names continuously came up as they are very well-known and are very talented Actors/ Actresses. Many people said they did not mind who was in the film just as long as they could play a believable part.
9. What form of advertisement do you find the most powerful? Within today's modern society I found that word of mouth and billboards/ posters were the most powerful forms of advertisement, rather than radio or television adverts being less popular of finding out about films.
10. What do you like to see in the opening sequence to a film? I left this question open so people could write freely about their opinions. There was a mixed response with answers varying from “ A dramatic scene, something that will stay in my mind throughout the film, something that will keep me drawn to the film” to answers such as “A mellow opening, with an introduction to the characters and settings allowing me to understand the genre and storyline”. Over half the people’s questions said they would want a dramatic start that will draw them in right away.
11. Do you prefer Blockbuster films or Independent films? It didn’t come a surprise to me that most people I questioned preferred Blockbuster films to Independent films. Although when asked this question some people didn’t know what an Independent film was.
12. Doing this questionnaire has helped us to decide what genre we will chose and an idea of what we could possibly include such ‘an introduction to characters (Simon), and something dramatic to keep the audience hooked and wanting to carry on watching. We have decided on doing a Thriller.
