1. Welcome to Level 1 ESOL Skills for Progression What do you need to know?

2. When are my classes? Monday 11 – 12.30 or 1 -2.30 Tuesday 9.00 - 12 Wednesday 9.00 – 12 Thursday 9.00 – 11.45 Friday 10 – 12

3. What shall I bring? 2 files 2 packs of dividers Pad of A4 paper Pen, pencil, highlighter Vocabulary notebook Headphones/ headset Memory stick

5. Come to every class

6. Phone the College if you are absent

7. Switch off mobile or put on silent

8. Speak English in class

9. Listen to others

11. Health and safety Hang all coats/jackets on coat hooks Place bags under the desk No food/drink in classrooms, except water in sports type bottle Adjust computer chairs to correct height

12. Fire drill Leave the building calmly as soon as the fire alarm sounds Follow the signs to the nearest fire exit Do not use the main stairs or lift Assemble in the car park opposite the College and wait for your teacher to take the register. Do not leave the car park until told to do so

13. How to get the best out of your course If you miss a class, it’s your responsibility to catch up! Put a date on every handout and keep them together in your file. When you get home look through what you have done in class that day. Come and ask your teacher if there is something you need extra help with. Take every opportunity to use your English outside the class. To be a successful learner you need to take responsibility for your OWN learning.
