4. The history of the JPL
The Junior Premier league
launched for the start of
the 2011/12 season and was
originally conceived by a group
of large clubs from the Midlands
& Southern England who were
interested in developing their
players through better coaching
and better quality matches
The league is aimed at clubs
who want to develop their
players through a ‘best with
best’ ethos - the NERF JPL is not
aimed at single teams looking
for a new challenge.
The ethos of the League is
always development before
results and the main aim is to
give a season’s worth of top
quality competitive matches to
every team participating.
Now in our 6th Season we have
grown to over 90 clubs and over
400 teams with multiple age
groups from u10 to u18, these
represent 22 County FA Regions.
We have high minimum
standards in terms of coaching
qualifications and all coaches
must be members of the FA
Licensed Coaches Club – we
are still the only League in the
country to be designated as
an FA Licensed Coaches
Club league.
Developing young footballing talent with over 90
clubs and for over 6 fantastic years
4
5. The history of the JPL
We actively encourage clubs
to give more contact time
to their players and many of
our initiatives are aimed at
developing the players to the
highest level possible through
different football experiences
(futsal & street soccer) as well
as the traditional match day
experience.
All the clubs involved will have
to show their development
plans for their players along
with constant access to higher
level coaches. Although it is
essentially about developing
players for the member clubs,
the teams involved have already
produced many players that
have signed contracts with
professional clubs.
We have a great cross section
of clubs involved from Premier
League clubs to Football League
clubs then Conference clubs and
semi-professional clubs all the
way through to large top quality
grassroots clubs. The important
thing for any club entering the
league is a genuine desire to
develop their players to the best
of their ability. We want our
players to love the game and
remain involved in it past the
age of 18 whether as a player,
coach, referee or other
involved person – that way our
game and league can develop
and be sustained.
We want you to help us create the future stars of
the beautiful game

7. our main sponsor
For the past 3 seasons one
of the biggest toy and game
manufacturers in the world,
Hasbro, have partnered with the
League via their Nerf brand.
This is the largest junior football
sponsor in England and shows
that they recognise the reach
of the League both in terms of
region and via our website and
social media platforms.
Nerf and the Junior Premier
League both recognise that
football is about more than just
the game, its also about having
fun and this is why we are so
happy to have them as part of
our league. Their support allows
us to offer many events to our
players and the products they
give us allow us to put lots of
smiles on the players faces.
We are proud to have Nerf
as our main league sponsor
7
9. matchday experience
Our matches are played on a
Saturday and the host facilities
have to be excellent to allow
the brand of football that we
want to promote. Our match
days are different to traditional
leagues too, we require top
quality venues to be used and
the players and coaching staff
enjoy hospitality post-match,
so increasing the social aspect
to a player’s development. All
of our matches are played over
4 periods, other than knockout
cup rounds which are played
over 2 periods (as they are in
professional academy matches).
This allows for more coaching
input to the game at appropriate
times and also allows coaches
to better manage their rotation
Creating the perfect environment to allow
everyone to enjoy their football
of players as it is a NERF JPL
requirement that all players
have 50% match time. With
the coaching impetus stressed
within the breaks in the game
this allows the boys to express
themselves and make decisions
for themselves too.
NERF JPL matches are played to
a high standard, both in terms of
the quality of competition and in
our full commitment to adhere
to the FA’s RESPECT campaign.
We are constantly developing
our ‘Respect’ campaign and this
season will ensure that all
games are played in a great
learning environment for the
players to develop.
9
10. matchday experience
The League has developed its
own league administration
software to run every aspect of
the programme from:-
• Fixtures,
• Registrations,
• Interactive team sheets,
• Pre and post-match data
• Internal messaging
• Player statistics
• Match reports
• Gold, Silver and Bronze awards
Our fantastic system allows for instant website
updates, reports, tables and stats
As we designed the system, we
are able to constantly develop
to ensure it reflects the needs of
all of our members and provides
the most up to date interactive
league management system for
all administrators, which in turn
leads to real time interactivity
for all visitors to the website.

15. Why Join the
Junior Premier League
Here at the JPL we put the
players needs first, because
their development as players
is what’s most important first
and foremost.
We aim to bridge the gap
between grassroots football and
professional academy football,
enabling clubs to develop their
own local players who can
realistically progress all the way
to their first team.
We play our league matches
over 4 periods to allow for
maximum coaching input and
timely substitutions.
To be the best, you have to play with the best
We can help you to attract the
best players in their area due to
the attraction of playing for like
minded clubs and players in the
Junior Premier League.
But most of all we promote a
safe, friendly environment in
which every player can enjoy
their football.
15
16. Why Join the
