2. Meaning
Culture- a particular society that has its own beliefs, ways of life, art, etc. or
a way of thinking, behaving, or working that exist in a place or
organisation (such as a Business). – Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
Also Known as Inter-Cultural Communication.
It’s a field of study that looks at how people from different ways among
themselves, and how they endeavour to communicate across culture.
It can also be defined as interaction between members of different groups
in respect of knowledge shared, respect and languages.
3. Etiquettes in Cross Culture Communication -
Clothing.
Conversation.
• Example: By Kissing, handshaking, or
exchanging Business card, etc.
Greeting -
• Example: Addressing them by Sir, professor,
doctor, or by surname, etc.
Forms of Address-
Time and Space.
4. Problems -
Different Habits, Different Values and different ways of
relating.
Different Views – For one its right and for another it’s Wrong
or peculiar.
Two Main Factors that impact communication – Gestures &
Body Movements and Beliefs & Practices.
5. Solution -
Creating a friendly Environment. Learning about other
culture (Language, rules, and norms).
Conducting Activities.
Communicating effectively (Provide Workshops, tips, and
techniques) in cross culture work environment.
Resolve the issues created by cultural misunderstanding
between employees.
6. If YOU SPEAK TO A MAN IN A LANGUAGE HE UNDERSTANDS , YOU SPEAK TO HIS
HEAD. IF YOU SPEAK TO A MAN IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE, YOU SPEAK TO HIS HEART.
