  1. Introduce self.
  2. Seniors “finished” with school when their college applications were submitted.Seniors with unrealistic plans or no plans for their future.
  3. My conversation began with Principal Jim Sullivan. Jim left the high school. The conversation continued with Dennis Williams, our current principal.
  4. Getting the Director of Curriculum involved is also very important.
  5. Experiencing, learning and growing right up to Graduation Day.How to do this?Through inquiry based and experiential learning and mentorship.
  6. Reading, attending conferences, visiting other school districts, networking with our community, networking with our Workforce Investment Board, learning how the state supports school districts.
  7. Advisory committee’s are so important. I included current students, recent alum, parents, Chamber and Rotary members, teachers, administrators—whoever I could get.The question: How can we do better for our students? To our recent grads: What did we miss? What do you wish you had known now that you know what you know?
  8. Why was this the result? The kids and parents saw it as relevant. Community members valued the idea because they were need mature, responsible employees in the future.
  9. CEW Standard #1 AwarenessHow we begin: 1. Confirm interests, skills, etc. 2. Research several professions that appeal to student. 3. Conduct several informational interviews. 3. Shadow day is possible. 4. Teach networking, phone etiquette & netiquette.
