Europe India Centre for Business and Industry (EICBI), a London based think tank, & Face Palette, a Kerala based internationally accredited Makeup academy and on demand makeup artist booking App, brought together beauty industry leaders and other stakeholders from UK, India and EU as part of its efforts to provide a common platform to address concerns and showcase opportunities in the beauty sector. These interactions were held during the “Europe India Beauty Summit” at Croydon Town Hall and UK Parliament in London on 17th October. This conference was the 24th summit of the business meet series in the European Union (21 Major summits in British Parliament and 2 Major summits in European Parliament) which have been held during the course of this decade by EICBI and its associated bodies and brought together emerging beauty brands from India and European Union alongside disruptive beauty start-ups to shape the future of beauty sector in the EU India corridor. The session at Croydon Town Hall was focussed more on helping companies understand the intricacies of setting up & running the business in UK and India whereas the session at UK parliament explored various opportunities and challenges for beauty industry leaders from UK, India and EU. Also, with all the discussions in UK and EU around Brexit and its implications on India, an interesting panel discussion with representations from British Parliament, European Parliament and Indian Embassy in London was organised during the UK Parliament session of the summit. This panel discussion had participation from Hon Bob Blackman MP - British MP, Harrow East, Mr Niccolò Rinaldi - Head of Unit for Asia, Australia and New Zealand - European Parliament & Mr Rohit Vadhwana - First secretary (Economic), High Commission of India.
Sujit S Nair, Chairman of Europe India Centre for Business and Industry said “India’s cosmetic industry is growing twice as fast as markets in the US & Europe. Various reports have suggested that despite being the fastest growing cosmetic market, ½ of India’s population still remains untapped. Through this summit, we provided Indian and EU beauty business leaders with access to the connections, financing, resources and strategic insight that they need to grow their business in India and EU.
The summit achieved its goal of inspiring beauty business leaders from the EU and India about the potential of EU India relations for a deeper commercial relationship in the beauty sector”. The summit attracted around 90 beauty business leaders and entrepreneurs from the European Union, UK, India, policymakers from the UK, European Union and India, Members of British Parliament and other invited guests.

The summit also saw the launch of #EuIndiaBeauty50 – Top 50 Emerging EU-India Beauty
Leaders list, which acknowledged the contributions of 50 people from the European Union and
India to the beauty sector. "#EuIndiaBeauty50 is an initiative of EICBI to discover Top 50
Emerging Beauty Industry Leaders in India & EU and acknowledge the contributions of 50
people from the European Union and India to the beauty sector. The women and men who
made it to the EuIndiaBeauty50 list represented 16 different nationalities - Denmark, Finland,
Germany, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland,
Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
3. PROGRAMME SUMMARY
Following this, Mr Abhishek Tripathi, who is the
Vice Chair - Events of Europe India Centre for
Business & Industry spoke about the various
aspects of Doing business in India. He spoke
about India's unique advantages, significant
economic reform measures and business
friendly policies with special emphasis on ease
of doing business in India. His address on
"doing business in India" provided a thorough
analysis of various options in establishing a
business and insights into key opportunities
available in India. Mr Mathew Sims, who is the
Chief Executive of the Croydon Business
Improvement District (BID) spoke about the key
strengths of Croydon as a place to do
business and the support offered by the BID

Croydon Town hall in London. The session at
Croydon Town Hall was facilitated by the
Economic Development department of the
Croydon Council.
Following a networking session over tea and
coffee, delegates were welcomed to the
Croydon Town Hall by Ms Rachel Carse who is
the Head of Employment & Skills at Croydon
Council. Mr Sujit S Nair, Chairman of Europe
India Centre for Business and Industry also

Partner of Moore Kingston Smith shared more
details about "Doing business in UK" and the
structures and support available for companies.

unique identity as an investment destination among all boroughs of London and stands proud of its
diversity and enterprising spirit. She dwelled on several initiatives of creating new infrastructure,
metro connection, business hubs and universities. She promised end to end assistance to
businesses interested to invest in Croydon. The delegates who participated in the morning session
where largely emerging Indian entrepreneurs from beauty sector. Ms Carol Squire, who is the Head
of Economic Development, Croydon Council thanked the delegates for attending the conference.

in presence of Mr Sujit S Nair, who is the
Chairman of EICBI. After the felicitation of
EuIndiaBeauty50 leaders, the first panel
discussion of the conference was about Europe
India trade opportunities. With Brexit around the
corners, the discussions provided an interesting
Hon Bob Blackman, who is the Member of British
Parliament and Vice Chair of Indo-British All-
Party Parliamentary Group formally welcomed
the delegates. As one of the strongest
supporters of India in the UK Parliament, he
shared his thoughts on UK India relations and
spoke about fostering closer cooperation
between India and the UK. Following this, Mr

Business & Industry, provided an overview of the
summit and details of various panel discussions
which had been structured for the summit. Post
the address by Mr Sujit S Nair, the stage was set
for a Makeup Artistry book cover. This book by
Makeup Guru Lekshmi Menon put forth certain
makeup methodologies which combines
traditional Indian knowledge along with those
perspectives from leaders from India, UK and European Union. The panellists who participated in
the discussion include Hon Bob Blackman, British MP- Harrow East, Mr. Niccolo Rinaldi – Head of
Unit for Asia, Australia and New Zealand – European Parliament and Mr. Rohit Vadhwana – First
Secretary (Economic), High Commission of India, London. The session was moderated by Mr. Sujit
S Nair – Chairman, Europe India Centre for Business & Industry.
The next session was about collaboration between the EU and Indian Beauty Ventures. As
someone who has studied and understood the beauty sector in UK and India, Lekshmi Menon
FRSA, who is the founder of Face Palette, shared her thoughts on how beauty ventures can
collaborate to make the best use of the opportunities in both the regions.

around 90 beauty industry leaders / entrepreneurs, business leaders and policy makers from the
EU, UK and India.
