- 1. Growing Forward 2 Organizations and Collaborations What Makes A Good Funding Application? August 6, 2014
- 2. GROWING FORWARD 2 • Growing Forward 2 (GF2) is a comprehensive federal- provincial-territorial agreement aimed at encouraging innovation, competitiveness and market development in Canada's agri-food and agri-products sector. • GF2 builds on the successes of Growing Forward and the Agricultural Policy Framework.
- 3. CLIENTS & DELIVERY 3 Primary Clients 3 Delivery Partners Organizations and Collaborations AAC Processors (food and bio-products) OMAF Producers OSCIA
- 4. ORGANIZATIONS • not-for-profit, Ontario-based, legally recognized entity, involved in the agriculture, agri-food and agri-based products sector capable of entering into a contract, including, but not limited to associations, marketing boards, aboriginal groups • membership comprised primarily of Ontario residents
- 5. COLLABORATIONS • combinations of: • non-profit associations/organizations; and/or • academic/research institutions in the agriculture, agri-food, agri- products sector, primarily located in Ontario; and/or • two or more legal for-profit businesses • encouraged to include an organization • must demonstrate benefit beyond the collaboration members • members must have an arms length relationship from one another
- 6. CAPACITY BUILDING • skills development and training • assessments, audits and plans • applicants are encouraged to undertake capacity building activities in advance of applying for project implementation funding
- 7. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION • broad program design • implementation of plans, applied research projects • projects deemed innovative are eligible for higher cost share funding
- 8. COST SHARE CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION Cost share (% of TPC) 75% 50% to 75% In-kind Contributions Not Eligible Eligible (cannot exceed 15% of the TPC)
- 9. GF2 FOCUS AREAS 1. Environment and Climate Change Adaptation 2. Animal and Plant Health 3. Market Development 4. Labour Productivity Enhancements 5. Assurance Systems - food safety, traceability, animal welfare 6. Business and Leadership Development
- 10. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT • quick turnaround times • pre-proposals • capacity building projects ($20,000 and under) – apply anytime • capacity building projects (over $20,000) and project implementation
- 11. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT • industry-led decision making • AAC client service • applications accepted on an ‘ongoing’ basis • each project reviewed on its own merits

Pre- proposal • Download program guide at www.adaptcouncil.org • Submit pre-proposal: info@adaptcouncil.org Application • Enroll (and apply) at ontario.ca/growingforward2 • Projects will undergo thorough due diligence • AAC board of directors makes funding decisions If Approved • Enter into an agreement with the AAC • Provide AAC with claim documentation and progress reports for reimbursement funding • Ensure project results are shared broadly
