Notes de l'éditeur
Globally education and its standards are evolving at a pace that was incomprehendable by humans and it is going to keep evolving. We should Evolve with them, as leaders in education
The person on the tip of this arrow is a leader, it is his responsibility to point the direction for his team. His decisions decide the fate of the people following him
Leading by example (religiously and then in education)
A leader creates more leaders.
Ask class, what other qualities are in leaders
We all have perspectives, which are designed and carved by our family, teachers, friends and society. The use of these perspectives depend on the individual
So, lets analyze our paradigm, do the paradigm shift activity
Paradigm shift is when (egg and chiken example) you take a certain step towards achieving your goal, which is different and unique, thinking outside the box
A change in approach or underlying beliefs
Paradigm shift:
A revolutionary change from one way of thinking to another
A transformation or metamorphosis
The paradigm we use and accept is dependent on us believing what we perceive to be true and accurate.
Management is A is a problem, A+ is the solution.Individuality
Leadership is leading the entire team to perform a little bit better than normal, to improve the overall performance of the team, even if it means to sacrifice your own standing
1. Change centered
2. Give and take policy
Coming to the third sub topic a new paradigm
involves establishing strong network performance by building, aligning, and enabling broad networks both internal and external to the organization. Network leadership is more about influence than control; it is also a more indirect than direct form of leadership, requiring leaders to create a work environment based on autonomy, empowerment, trust, sharing, and collaboration.
Development of capacities: There needs to be a shift in objective and emphasis from
the transfer or transplantation of information and understanding to the awakening and
development of the capacity to inquire, search, learn and think for oneself.
As every good teacher knows, we learn most by sharing our
knowledge with others. It is time to extend that privilege and opportunity to everyone.
There needs to be a shift in reliance from passive learning by listening and receiving
to active learning that comes from sharing, communicating and teaching others. As
Wikipedia shifted responsibility for encyclopedic knowledge from a few specialized
experts to the reservoir of knowledge and experience possessed by millions of people,
education should enlist the interest, release the energy and actively engage the faculties
of each student to learn for oneself and also help others learn.
Life-Centered Knowledge: There should be a shift from the emphasis on narrow fields
of specialized knowledge related to a specific career to a more inclusive knowledge
that encompasses major dimensions of human life, including the social skills and
psychological attitudes needed for adjustment and achievement in a networked society,
knowledge of the increasingly complex organization which modern society has become,
values that promote cooperation with others and harmony with the world around us.
Integration: There needs to be a shift in emphasis from classification and analysis to
synthesis and integration, from studying the parts to discovering the interrelationships
and interdependences between them, from contrasting apparent opposites to reconciling
contradictions within a wider perspective and conceptual framework.
Individuality: The greatest, most important type of integration needed is to relate
and integrate education and its accumulated knowledge with the real needs of society
and the individual, to impart to each person capacities for wider adaptation, initiative,
self-reliance, leadership, cooperation, innovation, independent thinking, imagination,
creativity and harmony.
