The glacier is over 3.2 kms in length, 1.5 km in width and at 3657m above sea level. It is situated to the south east of the majestic Nandadevi, 7816m and south of Nandakot, 6816m. The trek runs along the southern wilderness of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary and is bordered by beautiful landscapes and breathtaking views. A trekkers paradise - it is set amidst lush green forest, numerous waterfalls and hanging valleys. Upon reaching the upper levels, the trees fall off, the pines cease and the trail enters an enchanted garden of fern, wild flowers and rhododendron.
One of the important glaciers in Uttaranchal, it is easier to visit than most other glaciers, the trekking route to this glacier is considered one of the best in Kumaon. The valley is drained by the Pindar river that emerges from the glacier. To reach glacier one has to trek approximately 45kms till ‘Zero Point’, the trail runs through villages, the Dhakuri pass and further follows upstream to the source of the river, the Pindari glacier.

5. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
After an overnight journey by Ranikhet Express from
Delhi to Kathgodam, our jeep will pick you at 0545am
from the station and depart for Loharkhet. We reach
the camp by 1800hrs with en route breakfast and lunch.

Day 2
Today after an early breakfast we depart at 0700hrs
and trek for 11kms to Dhakuri, the trail runs through
thick forest into the valley and then further climbs to
the Dhakuri Pass. On a clear day the views from the
pass are spectacular as one can see the snow clad
peaks on the southern boundary of the Nandadevi
Sanctuary. We arrive at the Dhakuri campsite by
1300hrs.

6. Detailed Itinerary
Day 3
After an early morning walk to the pass to see the
sunrise, we comeback to the camp at Dhakuri for
breakfast. We depart at 0800hrs from the campsite,
today’s trek will be for 8kms and most of it is downhill.
The people here are extremely hospitable, the legend has
it that they are the descendents of the race who provided
shelter to the Pandavas during their exile. We reach
Khati by 1300hrs

Day 4
After enjoying the hospitality of the villagers at Khati ,
post breakfast we depart for Dwali at 0700hrs. The trek is
of 11 kms with the roar of the Pinder Ganga not too far
off and all along the way we see numerous waterfalls
and log bridges to be crossed. We arrive at Dwali by
1400hrs.

7. Detailed Itinerary
Day 5
Today we depart after breakfast at 0700hrs. Today the
trek is a short 5 km trek, however as it moves into high
altitude the trail crosses the tree line, beyond which the
air stats thinning and the barren icy peaks become your
only companions for the day. We reach Phurkia by
1300hrs

Day 6
Indeed the biggest day of the trek, we depart for Zero
Point at 0600hrs with packed breakfast. Today we
experience the beauty of the glacier and the surrounding
peaks. We also visit the Babaji who has built himself a
beautiful hut. We arrive back to the Phurkia camp by
1500hrs

En route to Zero Point
8. Detailed Itinerary
Day 7
With an early breakfast we depart at 0700hrs from
Phurkia and head straight to Khati. Today’s trek of
16kms is long however is all downhill, we carry
packed lunch and reach Khati approximately by
1500hrs.

Day 8
Today we depart after breakfast at 0800hrs for
Dhakuri and arrive by 1300hrs.

9. Detailed Itinerary
Day 9
Today after breakfast we depart at 0700hrs for
Loharkhet and further drive to Nanital. The trek of
9kms is mostly downhill. We reach Loharkhet by
1200hrs and have lunch, post which we board the
jeeps and drive to Nanital. Upon reaching Nanital we
settle in a hotel and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 10
The day is at leisure to enjoy boating on the lake,
indulge in some rock climbing at Barapathar, horse
riding trip around Naini Peaks or shop on the mall or
Tibetan Camp. Depart from Kathgodam at 2240 hrs
via Ranikhet Express to Delhi
