Ms. Butler
• I am from Vicksburg, MS. I am very close to my family. (my mom,
brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. I am their only aunt and I
have raised them all since they were little. I don’t have kids, but
love kids.
• I am graduated of Jackson State University where I received my
Bachelor of Science and I received my Masters in Teacher
Leadership from University of Phoenix.
• This is my first year as a Kindergarten teacher and I taught Head
start for six years.
• I love to travel, read, going to the movies and shopping.

A. Go the gym, once you get off the bus and wait on the bell
for dismissal.
B. Go to breakfast.
2. After breakfast, you must come straight to class.
3. Sit in your assigned seat.

• Before you sit down, unpack your backpack.
Place school supplies on the counter. Then, look
for assigned cubby with your name, ask your
teacher if need HELP.
• This will be your assigned seat until I get to know your
name.
• Work on assignment at desk and teacher will monitor
progress.

15. MAKE A NAME TENT
You will be making a name tent. Today, I will take it up, but tomorrow, you will
bring it to class each day so I can learn your names.
Directions:
1. Fold the paper in the middle of the length (longest part or hotdog style) of the
index card.
2. Your tent will look like an upside down letter V.
3. IN PENCIL, write out your name very LARGELY on one side of the tent to make
sure that it fits.
4. Once your name looks good, write it in dark marker.
5. Draw a picture or pictures that represent something about you.

I introduce myself and parapro and we play a simple name game. For the game, we sit in a circle and pass a foam ball around
saying our names and our favorite color. Then, the teacher will discuss the rules and read No David! or David Goes to School
by David Shannon. Afterwards, we talk about some of the rules David broke and how he would have a hard time if he were in
our classroom. We practice lining up and I take them on a quick tour of our school (clinic, front office, library, computer lab, and
specials). We also go the lunchroom and practice walking through the lunch line and finding our lunch table. We take a quick
stop at the bathrooms on the way outside.

Outside (I take class pictures and individual pictures while we are outside so i have first day of school pictures)

We come back in and get drinks, go the bathroom, and return to the floor. We talk about how kindergarten is
different from being at home with mom or dad or at daycare or with a nanny. I share and read the book The
Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn and afterwards we talk about how if we ever get sad we just put our hand close to
our hearts and think of our family to feel better again.

After we clean up our centers and come back to the floor, I use popsicle sticks to call them one by one to get their
snack and bring it to the table. I let them enjoy and socialize the first day. Sometimes we will listen to a cd or read
a story during this time.

PENCIL PERSON – This person will go into my file cabinet. He/she
will get a pencil and give to those that need one.
ASSISTANT – This person will take the roll in the classroom and
do other tasks.
STUDENT HELPER – This person will help students who were
absent understand the material that was missed. This person
will also help new students in the class.
CLEAN-UP HELPER – This person will help make sure class is
clean.
Students can “apply” for a job after the second week of school.
20. FINISHED WORK
▪ If you are finished with your work, you may tutor students with
their work.
▪ You cannot read a non-text book without permission.
21. END OF CLASS
▪ You will need to pick up the trash around your area
before you are allowed to leave.
▪ You will need to return supplies to their proper place
before you are allowed to leave.
▪ The bell does not dismiss you, the teacher does.
