This document proposes introducing more natural light into buildings at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) to save energy costs and improve occupant well-being. It analyzes challenges such as the difficulty of retrofitting existing buildings, and recommends conducting cost-benefit analyses of supplementing lighting with skylights or light tubes. A case study estimates potential $36,867 annual savings from light tubes in ETSU's Center for Physical Activity building. The document concludes natural lighting is a long-term commitment that can improve sustainability and quality of life.
