This document provides tips to fix Steam errors in Windows 10. It recommends configuring data execution prevention settings to exclude Steam from DEP, disabling antivirus protection temporarily, terminating and reloading the Steam process, and checking Steam's compatibility settings to run in an earlier Windows version for troubleshooting.

2. Configure Data Execution Prevention
Settings

Click the Start button on Taskbar.

Click All Apps | Windows System.

Right click This PC icon, choose Properties.

Click Advanced system settings, and then
Advanced tab | Settings (Performance).

Click Data Execution Prevention tab.

3. Configure Data Execution Prevention
Settings

Select the second option Turn on DEP for all
programs and services except those I select.

Click Add.

Browse and locate Steam executable file located
in Program Files folder.

Click OK twice.

4. Disable Antivirus Protection

Locate the system tray icon of your Antivirus
software.

Right click that icon, choose Pause protection
or similar option.

Select Until next reboot option, click OK.

5. Terminate & Re-load Corresponding
Process

Press Windows Key + X; choose Task
Manager.

In the Processes tab, you'll find Steam.exe
process.

Select that process, click End task.

Reboot your laptop.

Press Windows Key + R. Type Steam.exe, click
OK.

Right click Steam desktop shortcut; choose
Properties.

Click the Compatibility tab.

Check-up the box labeled Run this program in
compatibility mode for.

Select an earlier Windows version, click OK.
