2. What do you understand by the concepts of
repetition and variation of a genre?

The message a genre communicates with it’s audience is essential to be
repetitive, so that the familiarity will continue to be known and
understood by the audience. It perpetuate more of an understanding
as the audience accepts the foundation of what the genre is all about.
But genre is not static as it will always add variations to it’s elements
and it’s formula.

For example, action movies consists of the replication of conflict and
gaining authority because this use of genre tends to specify in war
rather than peace. Although, it is desirable for screenwriters and
directors to illustrate a diversion from the tradition, with anticipation to
bring out something new and urban to the market.

A protagonist is a principle somebody who plays the first part and is the central personal
figure. In many cases a male protagonists would be courageous and good looking,
and likely to rescue a lady in distress at some point. As on the other hand, the female
protagonist is likely to be very good looking, and play second fiddle to the male hero.

Stock characters are fictional characters that tend to rely on personal characteristics. And
serves the role of providing relationships and interactions with others.

A frequent convention that tends to occur inside of a plot would be scene brought up from
the past.

Objects, background and stars and things we immediately lock into. As an icon is a key
symbol that will foretell the territory of the genre. Minor elements of the genre are
prone to be assumed once recognition and interpretation are apparent.

Background and décor are also very typical when it comes to portraying a form of genre.
They are very distinctive and obvious to an audience that is familiar with that aspect of
genre.

Themes and ideas are what run through and come out of the stories as they are very
much part of the genre. They are relatively common and special of an outline to that
specific genre. These themes also tie in with the value messages that are projected.
