The document discusses applying color correction to a music video to fit within the indie rock/pop genre. It analyzed example music videos to understand the genre's visual style and used YouTube tutorials to apply color correction uniformly across clips filmed on different days with varying sunlight. Color correction created a consistent atmosphere and impression and made the overall video appear more cold, with a brown tint, to match the song's lyrics.
2. We wanted to link our music video to what a viewer would expect to see
In a indie rock/pop music video therefore we looked at examples to fit in to
that category. We looked at Youtube tutorials to apply colour correction, it
was a simple task to play around with but we had to apply the same colour
correction on every single video that we edited. Some videos had more
sunlight because it was filmed on different days therefore there was more
sunlight. Colour correction was a way forward to make the music video as a
whole to give off an impression and an atmosphere towards a certain
viewer.
3. Examples of music videos I looked at…
(The Paper Kites - bloom)
The colours are quite soft that suits the song and the genre, the use of
lighting gives an impression of a calm atmosphere to the music video. This
is what we aim to do to target a certain viewer.
5. You can notice that the video before had different lighting, for example in one
of the shots it was dark when character (Nawd) was sitting down in the corner.
The colour correction that was included made it seem more cold that matches
the lyrics. It was more of a brown hint of colour in the video.
