Editor's Notes

  1. The engineering profession uses Eweek as a springboard to the rest of the year – a time to give back and look forward1000 footprints adds up to a big impressions
  2. Prizes – 2,000 cash, trip to DC
  3. We have an enviable position in that young kids (and their parents) tune us in and watch stories where George is dismantling a clock to see how it works … or attempting to build a stable wall to keep cows out of his garden … We’re helping reach Far Deeper into your pipeline to engage PreK thru first/second grade. … And that’s important because we know that science, engineering, and mathematics are disciplines representing YEARS of accumulated knowledge. Two independent studies done in the last two years have confirmed that our public television episodes, online games, outreach, and more-recently-published CG titles that tie into episode storylines have increased young children’s knowledge of the various STEM topics covered. Parents told us, I never would have thought to talk about such topics with my child—but she’s so into it!
  4. Under Cool Content & Activities (with a filter for Elementary grades) you’ll find two CG activities. One involves making a simple pinwheel to explore the concept of wind power …And the other shows kids you can create new things with recycled material.I promise you a GREAT reception with kids when you let Curious George help you be their ambassador to these activitiesI also want to let you know that, premiering this month is a new CURIOUS GEORGE STEM Collection on pbslearningmedia.com, which is _____(You may want to tell the teacher in the classroom you’re visiting about it!) Teachers can use a 2-min clip from an episode along with discussion questions and activity ideas/PDFs.
