  7. 7. The overall transport volume in Europe increases year by year introduced by a growing and more mobile population. Especially the peaks of capacity utilization of the infrastructure in rush hours is a challenge – which shall be addressed with more digitalization and process optimization; and not only additional concrete!   8. 8. A centralized communication architecture, based on industry-standardized protocols, is a major requirement to introduce the digitalization within reasonable costs and time-to-market. The ITxPT organization enables interoperability between IT systems in Public Transport by specifying an IP based onboard communication infrastructure. NetModule is an incubator of IP technologies and it’s open network protocols for more than 20 years.   9. 9. 9DIGITALIZATION IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT Vehicle Communication Gateway (VCG) A key component of the digitalization in Public Transportation is the VCG which maintains the vehicle to ground connection as a service for all onboard units. — The VCG routes data between all kind of protocols and layers. — ITxPT architecture proposes an IP backbone. — Nevertheless: retro-fit installation consists still of a various technologies and require massive protocol conversion. In order to qualify a device, it needs to fulfill: - Hardware compliance - Software compliance - Renewal during the lifecycle of a product The label declares the compliance for the referenced feature set in the report. The scope of features labeled by ITxPT differs from vendor to vendor.

  27. 27. 27ITXPT SERVICES Inventory The Module Inventory Service is mandatory in ITxPT architecture. There are two main use-cases: — basic module without any need to communicate to backoffice only need to implement the DNS reply (including TXT record) — more complete module needs to implement the HTTP part as well (including xml file).
