Profile:
A senior finance professional with over 25 years’ extensive hands‐on experience in management, consulting,
commercial, operational and financial control focus. Qualifications include Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Fellow
of CPA Australia and NSW Justice of the Peace.
As a results‐driven, focused change agent and problem solver, with a proven track record of “partnering with the
business” to successfully meet and exceed company objectives and add real value.
Specialist Expertise:
Major Achievements:
Delivered the closedown of HSBC’s Melbourne Loan Processing Centre, net 32% reduction in staff, on time,
under budget by $1.45m and with no union issues.
Navigated financial services firm through an Initial Public Offering as CFO and Company Secretary.
Designed and executed business reporting solutions that deliver significant business financial
transformation outcomes to large corporate organisations across a wide range of industries.
Key Relevant Work Experience:
Storm Financial Limited Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary 2006 to 2008
Storm Financial Limited was an independent privately owned financial planning group preparing to list on the
Australian Stock Exchange through an Initial Public Offering.
Major Achievements:
I had extensive involvement in all aspects of the IPO process, including liaison with external advisors
(Mallesons, PwC, Macquarie Bank, UBS), and briefings at institutional road‐show presentations.
Prospectus was issued November 2007 ‐ expected market capitalisation of circa $460m. Capital raising of
$160m (priority offer raised and banked $83m ‐ institutional book‐build of remaining $77m).
IPO was subsequently withdrawn in Dec 07, one week before scheduled listing, due to onset of the Global
Financial Crisis, together with resulting lack of institutional support for financial services stocks at that time.
I resigned in in early January 2008, three weeks after the withdrawal of ASX IPO. I was not in any way
involved in providing financial advice to customers of Storm Financial.
HSBC Bank Limited Financial Controller ‐ Operations 2003 to 2006
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, my role was to provide high level financial advice, education, guidance and
support to the COO and his management team (Australia & New Zealand).
Major Achievements:
• Development of key operational productivity measures, providing quantifiable proof of continual unit cost
reductions whilst supporting the global focused “Managing for Growth” strategy. This played a crucial role
in assisting Operations to reduce its cost footprint by 18%.
• Project‐manage the closedown of the Melbourne Loan Processing Centre and transfer residual functions to
Sydney. Project was completed in 4 months, on time, under‐budget by $1.45m, no union issues, no audit
issues and no stakeholder issues. Project delivered a smooth transition to Sydney LPC whilst achieving an
overall net 32% reduction in staff.
