In December of 2013 Google finally updated page rank, after 10 months of silence. This was a bit of a shock to everyone in the SEO world because before this 10 month break Google PageRank had been updated every 3 to 6 months.

2. In December of 2013 Google finally updated page rank,
after 10 months of silence. This was a bit of a shock to
everyone in the SEO world because before this 10
month break Google PageRank had been updated every
3 to 6 months.

3. The break caused people to begin to question whether
it was ever going to be updated again. This fear was
reinforced after Google’s Matt Cutt’s inferred that
PageRank wouldn’t update again in 2013.

4. For those who don’t know PageRank is an algorithm
that Google uses to rate the significance of someone’s
website based on the amount of links going to their
site.

5. Many people rely on PageRank to determine the
quality of the website, although having a high page
rank doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a good
quality site because page rank is more about the
number of links coming to your site than then the
quality of the links themselves.

6. PageRank was considered by many SEO’s as a key factor
when trying to rank a website on Google’s search
engine but after 10 months without an update the
majority of people started to think it might be losing its
value but now that has all changed. SEO’s are now
debating about whether it is still valuable for SEO or
not.

7. I think this update means that Google still values
PageRank to some degree otherwise they wouldn’t
have gone through the effort to update it and that for
the foreseeable future at least it is going to remain one
of the defining factors when Google ranks its sites.
