1. THE 2012 AWARD
WINNERS
The wait is over and even better you don’t have to sit
through any acceptance speechs!!
2. B E S T F I L M : AV E N G E R S A S S E M B L E
2012 was the year of the Superhero
and it was the Avengers that came out
top. The huge success of bringing
together all of Marvels hottest
properties so succesfully has to be put
down to Joss Whedon who delivers a
light and incredibly exciting superhero
romp.
3. BEST DIRECTOR: GARY ROSS
Gary Ross did an incredible job of
making a blockbuster that still manages
to look like an Indie film with The
Hunger Games. From the very
beginning of the film his handheld
camera work makes us feel uneasy
and he does a great job of capturing
brutal violence for a 12a audience.
4. BEST FILM ACTOR: GEORGE CLOONEY
For years George has being a huge star
but this year he staked an extremely early
claim for best actor in The Descendants.
The performance of his career was well
worthy of an Oscar as Clooney brilliantly
portrays a middle-aged man who’s life is
falling apart. This may be his peak but he
can still get that allusive gong, as an actor
or director.
5. BEST FILM ACTRESS: JENNIFER
L AW R E N C E
I may be in love with her but Jennifer
Lawrence really does deserve her actress
award. The Hunger Games has launched
her to global star but she puts in a
performance to deserve that. Yeah there
might not be too much difference to her
Winter’s Bone role but you can’t get too
much of a good thing can you?
6. BEST FILM SUPPORTING ACTOR:
M I C H A E L FA S S B E N D E R
He’s one of the rising stars in the film
world and 2012 was a great year for
Fassbender but it will perhaps best be
remembered for his role in
Prometheus. His performance is
probably the most memorable of 2012
and without him the film would really be
as bad as every critic seems to think…
7. BEST FILM SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
SHAILENE WOODLEY
Clooney’s was not the only great
performance, from under the shadow of
her incredibly famous co-star Woodley
came from nowhere and threatened to
steal the film. Expect big things from
this girl who was painfully overlooked
during awards season.
8. B E S T E N S E M B L E F I L M C A S T: T H E D A R K
KNIGHT RISES
Most of the success of The Dark Knight
trilogy was the case and it didn’t come
much better then ensemble assembled
for the final chapter. While the new
additions are superb it really is the
returning supporting players who steal the
show with Oldman, Caine and Freedman
all among the greatest actors of their
generation on top form.
9. B E S T S P E C I A L E F F E C T S : AV E N G E R S
ASSEMBLE
Ok it’s pretty much guaranteed that
effects are going to be good now but
it’s fair to say that Avengers Assemble
steals it. The crowning moment is final
battle scene and the superb one shot
journey around the battle torn New
York.
10. B I G G E S T D I S A P P O I N T M E N T: T H E
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
It’s not a bad film but with the cast and
crew assembled for the newest
superhero reboot it could have been
amazing!! Maybe I just don’t like
Spiderman but with Marc Webb,
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone
surely that would change but no lets
move on and hope that the sequel will
be a tab bit more original.
11. BEST TV SHOW: GAME OF THRONES
Possibly the most epic TV show of all
time, it might be complicated but Game
of Thrones was king of 2012. Yes some
storylines are better then others but
there all pretty superb and the season
finale would leave any fan gagging for
the start of season 3.
12. BEST TV ACTOR: ANDREW SCOTT
He’s not a house hold name yet but
Andrew Scott managed to steal
Sherlock away from 2 of the most
talented British actors of the age. Scott
managed to find the perfect balance
between menace and craziness as he
put a new spin on one of the most
famous literary villains of all time.
13. BEST TV ACTRESS: ZOOEY DESCHANEL
The heart of possibly the most lovable
show of 2012, Zooey Deschanel has
created one of the most lovable TV
characters of all time. Without
Deschanel New Girl would not exist
and that would be a great shame and
although it may not be too different
from her other roles Deschanel is still
superb.
14. BEST TV ENSEMBLE: THE BIG BANG
THEORY
The Big Bang Theory cast has always
been great but over time all the cast
have grown up and become stars. With
the addition of Melissa Rauch and
Mayim Bialik the cast has become one
of the best on TV and could even live
up to the standards set by 6 very
special Friends.
15. BEST TV EPISOD E: TH E WAL KIN G D EAD
– BESIDE THE DYING FIRE
One of the most shocking episodes of
all time and was The Walking Dead at
it’s best. Sitting down expecting just
another episode who’d have suspected
to see a new baby and the deaths of
several of the show longest running
characters. One of best episodes of
one of the best half a season of TV
ever!
