There are several benefits for builders that can be gained from using ICF over traditional methods of construction: The “5 in 1” system eliminates various of stages in the construction process, which in turn reduced the number of workers and labour hours required to complete a project. In addition, the overall construction time can be greatly reduced. ICFs lightweight and easy to handle and very few tools and equipment are required in the construction process. Often construction is even possible with no access to power. Finally, ICFs can result in less than 1% construction waste.
Owners and occupants of ICF structures gain multiple benefits from choosing ICF. ICFs provide maximum safety since they have a 3+ hour fire rating, are made of non-organic materials which resist mould, mildew, insects and rodents as well withstand extreme weather and provide protection for occupants and their possessions. The level of comfort in an ICF structure is also dramatically improved with greater temperature control, high indoor air quality and sound barrier.
ICF construction is very positive for the environment: To begin with, the 30-50% reduction in energy consumption experience by owners results in an equivalent reduction in harmful emissions. Most ICFs use some recycled materials in their manufacturing. The average ICF structure lasts in excess of 100 years. Several trees are saved as compared to conventionally framed structures.
