The document provides information about volunteering and activities at the Travel Town Museum Foundation. It describes various activities available at the park such as riding the miniature train, viewing historic trains and exhibits, and guided tours of train cars. It outlines the volunteer application process which involves filling out paperwork, fingerprinting, and orientation. Volunteers can give tours, help restore trains, perform mechanical work, and more. move the trains people like to gather and
watch as these machines come to life but
safety is always a priority especially with
children around.
At theTravelTown Museum Foundation it is
our job to try and educate on the public on
the history of railroading and the impact
railroading has on society, our culture,
and our daily lives. We achieve this with
the tours we give to students from different
schools of all ages and elderly throughout
the year and to the
general public on
thesecondSaturday
of the month. We
also make efforts to
expand our collec-
tionoftrainsandrailroadequipment as well as
restore the trains that are falling to pieces with
age and from exposure to the elements and
people. With some trains at over 100 years
old we work to maintain them with fresh
paint, cleaning, and any possible mechanical
maintenance.Wecannotmaintainthetrainsand
educate the public on our own so we look
for volunteers willing to assist us with this. In

Volunteers have a wide variety of things to
do here at the museum. They can give tours
to the general public and educate them on
railroadinghistoryandthehistoryofthetrain
cars. This will help improve public speaking
skills and handling the public which are very
useful skills. If tours aren’t your thing then
you can help with the restoration process. It
is a complex process with different stages.
