The evaluation of my short film and the process's taken to produce it.

1. Evaluation
Fittingthe purpose.
I feel that I have successfully created a short filmthat fits the purposeand meets the brief gi ven to me, I also
feel that itfits the purpose as my short film includes thegenre conventions. I also feel that my shortfilmwill
engage the people watchingit as itis something uniqueand hopefully something that the audiencefor the film
of the week will find entertaining.
Does the short filmmeetthe client’srequirements?
I believe that the shortfilmmeets the requirements of the clientas itis over 5 minutes long which is insidethe
5-15 minute time frame that the clientdemanded. And I also feel that it is somethingnew that filmof the
week has not seen before. I also feel that itis appropriatefor the shortof the week as my shortfilmis a
suitableshortfilmthatcontains a lotof the correctgenre conventions.
Reviewingthe qualityof the short film.
I think that the quality of my short filmis ok but could’vebeen better if there was a lotless wind in my clips as
the wind negatively affects the quality of my shortfilm. Also I think that the quality of my shortfilmcould be
better if the camera stayed in focus 100% of the time because for shortperiods of my shortfilmthe focus on
the clips isn’tperfect. Also I think the quality of the short filmwould’ve been better if I filmed my shortfilma
lot earlier becauseatthe time of filmingitwas difficultfor my actor to be availableand this meant I didn’t
have a lot of takes for my short filmas I had a shorttime frame to filmmy short film.
How my short filmcould be improved.
I believe that my shortfilmcould’ve been improved if I had filmed on a less windy day as a lot of my clips have
an overwhelming amount of wind in them and this negatively effects the quality of my clips and theoverall
quality of my shortfilm. I also think I could’veimproved my short filmif I had decided to not includemyself in
my own film,this is becauseby being in my own filmitwas difficultto go between being an actor in my filmto
the director. Also I think I could’ve improved my shortfilmif I had followed my scriptmore closely as I drifted
quite far from my scriptattimes which I think negatively affects the quality of my shortfilm. Also my film
could’ve been a lot better if my initial idea was a littlebitlonger and had more depth to it as after filmingthe
original clips for my shortfilmI realised thatitwasn’t going to be longenough and subsequentl y I had to go
out and record more clips in order to meet the clients brief. And also originally I had planned notto include
any audio for my short filmbut after I began editing I realised thatit would be necessary to includeaudio as it
would improve the overall quality of my shortfilm.
Commentingon the process of making my film.
Duringthe entire process of creating my filmI have learnta lot about how to professionally createa scriptand
pitch my idea to a panel of people who are in the industry, I have also learn thatcreatingan interestingand
entertaining scriptor filmidea is a hard task and the people who create films for us all the time are extremely
talented people. I have also discovered thatfilminga shortfilmcan be a hard task if you don’t have the
required knowledge to be ableto successfully handlea camera and I’ve learnt some of the techniques of
filmingand the range of shots that you can film(For example Long shot, Closeup and over the shoulder).
When I am ready to filmsomething again or create another shortfilmI have learned that I need to try and
stick to my production plan a littlemore closely as I went over my deadlinedue to my inability attimes to
followmy production plan and overall thatnegatively affected the production of my shortfilm, so next time I
will createa more in depth production plan that I will hopefully beableto stick to more precisely.Also next
time I edit I will makesure that I have more than one take of each shotas at timed I ran into issues where the
clip I had was a littleout of focus and that negatively affected my shortfilmas I didn’t always haveanother
take of the clip and subsequently I had to includesome clips thathad poor audio or were a littleout of focus at
times.
