It is said that the Coca-Cola Company asked bottle manufacturers to submit designs for a bottle for Coca-Cola that was so distinctive that it could be recognized by a feel in the dark or identified lying broken on the ground. The quest ended in 1915 when the distinctively shaped bottle design was patented.

CURRENT SCENAROI Coca-Cola looks to double India volumes in 5 years •The firm does not see the economic slowdown in India impacting its business, and expects good growth in 2020 •The company’s CEO and chairman James Quincey did not expect the Covid-19 outbreak to have any immediate impact on the supply chain Mumbai: India will soon become one of the top three markets by volume for The Coca-Cola Co., the company’schief executive officer and chairman James Quincey said in Mumbai on Monday. India is the fifth-largest market by volume for Coca-Cola, which sold 1 billion unit cases in the country in 2019. The Atlanta-based company wishes to double this number in the next five years. “We see India as a super attractive market and we continue to invest and build the business.We would like to see those growth rates continue and India to be the third-largestmarket," the Coca- Cola chairman said. Quincey did not expect the Covid-19 outbreak to have any immediate impact on the supply chain, but hinted that it can get affected if the issues prolong.

Despite the efforts, PepsiCo’s US market share is nearly one-third smaller than that of Coca-Cola’s. Also, Coca-Cola continues to outsell Pepsi in almost all areas of the world.
