Langtang Gosainkunda Trek begins from the wonderful hill town of Syabrubesi from where the route opens up at Langtang Valley. Later it follows the spiral way which passes through outlandish rhododendron and conifer forest in Langtang National Park which eventually takes you through meadows, high passes, glaciers and moraines all the way to Goshainkunda Lake. The trail then descends through Ghopte and Tarkegyang to Melamchi Bazaar where the trek formally ends. 1. Goshikunda festival trek
Gosaikunda Festival Trek is for all who want to view geographical vastness with nature’s symbiotic
relationship. Human world and its cultural practices are more interesting to watch that adds meaning to
surrounding atmosphere.
This frozen lake is a trek with Hindu pilgrims to see nature and culture mix. Gosaikunda deserve
devotees who are in the pilgrimage paying homage to the lord Shiva. You can get spectacular view of the
pilgrimage on the high Himalayas with snowcapped mountain on the side. Gosaikunda is believed to be
sacred for its myth. Lord Shiva hits the rock with Trishuhl(three spikes) and it became the cause for the
origination of Trishuli river. Two great festivals –Dasahara (ten days festival) and Janaipoornima (festival
of sacred thread) are for Hindu pilgrimage. A dip in the kunda(lake) washes away all the sin and
rejuvenate human , Hindu believes. Kunda(lake) is almost covered with snow all the year round hiding
the lake inside. In the month of August-September lake is seen clear as snow melt down. Mountains are
visible from the surrounding.
Located at an altitude of 4360 meters, Gosaikunda trip would be memorable for spectacular scenes of
Himalayan range. Lantang Ri, Langtang Lirung, Langtang Himal, ganesh Himal and many other mountains
can be seen on the way and the view is so closer that you feel you can touch the Himalayas. A
Mongolian ethnic tribe –Tamangs reside on these top parts. Followers of the Buddhism reside on the
tops where the Hindus find their holy place to have a pilgrimage. Jhankris(shaman) and their rituals are
one spectacular part thoughit is superstitious belief. Dressed on white robes with porcupine quills and
peacock feathers Jhankris perform their rituals dance as the healing.
Nature offers you watch flora and faunas on your trip. Pine, firs and oak line up on your way. Beyond
them rhododendron forest welcomes you where red panda(species at the verge of extinction) , deer and
bear share their habitat. Located inside langtang national park, the area is a good habitat for large
number of birds.

Gosainkunda Festival Trekking Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel
Day 2: Kathmandu VISITS:
Day 3: Drive to Kathmandu Dhunche: it will take about 7 hours by bus or may be conducted by the Land
Cruiser. Overnight at the hotel where you will have a Dhunche majestic mountain peaks look like Ganesh
Himal, Langtang range and some of the Tibetan mountains.
Day 4: Dhunche of Chandanbari: going to climb all the way in the jungle. Chandanbari is a small town
with few shelters and the monastery. The cheese factory here is the oldest in Nepal.
Day 5: Chandanbari of Lauribinayak Gosainkunda happen: After passing the lauribinayak the trail
becomes much narrower and fog, and the change in vegetation as well as the green vegetation becomes
much more desolate and rocky. From lauri Binayak takes about 3 hours to reach Gosainkunda from the
top you will see the beautiful mountains of the Himalayas.
Day 6: celebrating a festival. Take a holy bath in a lake Gosainkunda.
Day 7: Lake Gosainkunda Chandanbari back.
Day 8: Drive back to Dhunche.
Day 9: Drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 10: Kathmandu free day, evening dinner with Nepali culture show, the hotel
