2. Background
Hillary Clinton has been under investigation because of many emails
containing classified information that were administrated under Senator
Clinton’s private server.
Evidence suggests that thousands of emails out of about 650,000 that were
used on former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s laptop were sent to and from
Senator Hillary Clinton’s private server when she was the Secretary of State.
FBI Director James Comey got a warrant to look into Clinton’s emails
related to her probing of her private server.
3. Issue and Response
Comey released emails that are unclear whether they will cause the FBI to
charge Clinton for sending classified emails off of her private server.
It will take weeks to figure out whether these emails are related to
Clinton’s work.
FBI Director told Congress within a week of election of the emails
- actions can be against the law because it interferes with an election
(Hatch Act).
FBI contains information about Trump, his advisors, and the Russian
government but they will not release – unfair?
4. My opinion
FBI Director James Comey should not have released emails that are in
question of illegality right before the election.
Bias towards Trump.
5. Ethical Questions
Was it ethical for FBI Director James Comey to reveal these emails that may
or may not be classified within a week of election?
Is it ethical for large, influencing agencies like the FBI to hold a double-
standard against political candidates?
