Introduction
Role and Responsibilities
Basics of Recruiting
How to maximize $$ and make most of recruiting at UF
We will each introduce self and our roles
SPEAKER: Eirini
ER model- Consultation approach, account managers, customized services “one size does not fit all.”
Setting your goals & think about your time and budget: numbers, diversity initiatives, etc.
Be intentional in your outreach and be timely don’t wait too long until getting involved opportunities not always available (OCI, events, orgs, outreach)
GCL Profile tell your unique story and how it pertains to the UF candidate (use videos, what is your culture, do you offer development?) millenials?
Do you have specific hiring initiatives or timelines? Are you involved with UF orgs? What is your agenda for the semester Tell students on your GCL profile page!
Meet of our presentation will be a chronological walk through of the recruitment calendar and the appropriate branding opportunities
SPEAKER: Eirini
Creating an action plan based off your consultation
Layered approach in ACTION
These are things to consider when creating your fall/spring/summer recruitment plans
Do you have a certain number of hires?
Are you entry level vs. experienced?
Is there a certain degree level or major?
Anticipating growth in a particular sector of the company?
What will next year look like for you company?
Introduce student recruitment timeline: rough sketch of suggestions for how to amplify your branding/presence on campus.
Here’s how to get your action plan started each semester:
Fall Career Showcase kicks off Fall recruitment season and Spring Showcase kicks off the Spring recruitment season
So why do we have this timeline?
Emphasize the reasons why we have a recruitment timeline (planning and preparation, multiple touch points, etc.)
This helps you to achieve your goals
Helps you to NOT miss out on important events across campus
Helps you to develop relationships and brand effectively in order to obtain new relationships
It is also created in response to the UF student profile
Be mindful of what students are doing. Not all students are last minute.
Discuss student profile – high achieving
All programs not the same recruiting takes place at different times of the year
Here are some suggestions of what NOT to do for recruiting success:
Don’t schedule OCR events during spring break
Don’t schedule OCR/interviews during finals week
We generally don’t recommend info sessions on Fridays or too late in the year (i.e APRIL FOOLS)
Be mindful of student class schedules when selecting info sessions/OCR events during the year if you are not sure just ask us
What you SHOULD DO:
Have realistic expections
Build your brand and relationships and let students come to you (Build it and they will come!!)
Set the RSVP button for your info sessions so you are aware of student attendance
If you are not specific about your attendance, make the info session OPEN to all students we can help promote for you
We are now going to go through the recruitment timeline in chronological chunks and provide you with some ideas you could consider to really maximize your year. Please keep in mind we are giving you lots of ideas, but it’s important to decide really what makes the most sense for you. Is it two things all year that you can commit to? Is it two things per month you can commit to?
SPEAKER: Todd
So this is the time to look towards the year ahead and set your goals and expectations.
Please complete your GCL End of Year survey
Let us know how to support you in your future efforts
Where do we stand in your tier? Let us know
Do you have any ideas or feedback you want to share with your account manager?
SPEAKER: Eirini
SPEAKER: Eirini
Introduce Gator CareerLink and importance of updating their profile
Tell your story
How are you recruiting at UF
Do you have any unique deadlines?
What is your office culture?
Use this like your Personal LinkedIn to recruit/target students
The more info, the better
Videos can add several and change around at any time
Talk about your company on personal level
Potlucks, “Jeans Friday”, Bring a dog to work day”
What are your community outreach plans?
Millennials are looking to give back how are you doing this?
Career progression what options do students and alum have?
Paint the picture for students to SEE themselves working for you!!
Is this the right fit Remembers students are interviewing themselves starting at the GCL profile page
This is the first impression you are making make a positive impact
Internship conversion rate
Benefits what basic and additional benefits do you provide
SPEAKER: Todd
Be sure to incorporate your social media into your recruitment strategy. Consider these various outlets.
Accent these into your GCL profile
Connect with student organizations through social media
Like status, participate in discussions, post material, retweet, follow and other avenues
Connect with colleges and CRC!!!
Things to keep in mind
Certain social media avenues are utilized for specific purposes
LinkedIn is more professional

Persicope & Twitter are a blend of both
Other social media to consider are Instagram, Pinterest, and SnapChat
Consider the audience and ways to use your time & efforts
Not much research has been done to our knowledge to the outcome of utilizing these are recruiting tools
Ways to use these include:
Highlighting office culture through photos (Pinterest/Instagram)
Creating funny commentaries/buzzwords your office lingo trends in your industry funny anecdotes (Snapchat)
SPEAKER: Eirini

SPEAKER: Eirini
Great initial event for part-time opportunities you have
Positions less 30 hours
Smaller student audience than Career Showcase
Location in Reitz Student Union
Great opportunity to promote your Campus Ambassador Program
SPEAKER: Todd
Be sure to match up the recruiting calendar with the academic calendar
Outreach to student organizations of interest
HOW to outreach create ROI from student orgs offering them something if you can
This can range from simple actions like
bringing food to meetings
sponsoring events they hold
helping to fashion content for their meetings
Host job shadow for orgs
Info sessions at your HQ’s
This all depends on your budget and time utilize ambassadors and team members as needed
Room reservations are open and fill up for the fall quickly.
Request your info session and OCI rooms as soon as possible
Be sure to monitor the event listing of Employer2Student programs offered
Now is the time to begin pursuing the student organizations you want to work with.
Use Gator Connect to do so find your student orgs or interest by using search words or browse
Use college specific sites for customized, strategic organizations in your field
They are often using the summer to plan their Fall just like you are, so it’s prime time to make initial outreach.
*** Be sure to mention that summer is a good time to hold campus partner meetings ***

16 colleges across campus we work with all students, colleges and faculty/staff
NEW embedded liaison model– these work with both student and employers with in the college
The CRC is centralized and comprehensive. What does that mean?
Explain CD and ER (two teams)– student facing and employer facing
Close to 30 full time staff
ER’s mentality is customization- One size doesn’t fit all build relations through Account Manager model to learn your needs

Time to begin wrapping up the Fall recruitment season. As you are doing this, there are a few things to consider
Reading Days—classes are cancelled to give students time to focus on exams. Not a good time to schedule interviews or events
CRC has a policy of no interviews during exam week in an effort to allow students to focus on finals. You’ll see these dates are unavailable for you to schedule interviews
Fall graduating class is always smaller than Spring
Holiday break- Students are gone, attention directed elsewhere. Not ideal time for recruiting
But it is an ideal time to begin planning your Spring approach!
Register/schedule spring events
Career Fairs
Interviews
Info Sessions
Spring E2S

Check CRC website for dates/times
This a great way to achieve targeted recruiting and branding across campus
Here are some examples:
SPEAKERS: Todd (Stay in the Swamp), Jasmin (Summer Job & Internship Fair)
Mid Spring is a good time to ramp up your internship search.
You may have already started in Fall, but now is a time to finish strong.
Not only are students planning ahead, but those who are receiving course credit for summer experiences need to register for their internship course credits now.
-Can do this at the Summer Job and Internship Fair
-Local companies—Stay in the Swamp Career Fair (partnered with GBCS, the Chamber, and Career Source NCFL)
Be wary about Spring Break and mid-term exams. Students’ priorities are elsewhere at this time
College of Journalism Career Days takes place again
SPEAKER: Eirini
Spring is s great time to try out some different tactics in your recruitment strategy.
Consider non-traditional E2S programs like Field Day and Student Meets World-Similar non-traditional ideas taking place this semester
Field Day allows students to learn team building skills at Lake Wauburg
Student Meets World
Consider job shadowing-a great way to give students a glimpse into “a day in the life” at your organization and the available opportunities
Gator Shadow Day
Consider mentorship—another layer to add to your
Gator Launch (STEM) focused
Career Connections
SPEAKER: Jasmin
SPEAKER: Todd
Note Spring commencement
Reminder that room reservations for NEXT fall open up,, along with registration for Fall Career Showcase
Explain the Statewide Job Fair and the FCC consortium.
Just in Time Virtual Career Fair
