(Streetscape and Open spaces) for Ministry Of Housing, Saudi Arabia
Dammam Airport Site Jeddah Al Hijrah 2 Site Masterplanning, Infrastructure and Landscape development for housing communities for
Ministry of Housing, Saudi Arabia
Royal Decree: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia embarked on an ambitious plan to provide up to 500,000
housing units throughout the Kingdom at a planned cost of roughly 500 billion Saudi Riyals. The
MOH Infrastructure Program will develop the sites, all landscaping and infrastructure, leaving vertical
construction to developers.
In 2011, and through a subsequent contract amendment, Saudi Arabian Parsons Limited (SAPL)
partnered with Ministry to tackle the largest sites planned for development—17 separate community
sites totaling nearly 74 million m² of land supporting about 92,000 apartments and villas. The
communities will ultimately include mosques, medical facilities, schools, police stations, parks,
landscaped open spaces, commercial/retail development, electrical substations, and sewage treatment
plants to provide complete and modern communities to Saudi citizens.
Scope of work:SAPL is undertook data collection, urban master planning, complete technical design,
and full construction supervision of all infrastructure and landscaping for the assigned sites, which range
in size from roughly 1 million m² to 10 million m² and are spread out from Tabouk in the north to Khamis
Mushayt in the south and from Dammam in the east to Jeddah in the west.

I worked with Design Management Team(DMT) which managed the delivery of the projects in close
coordination with Ministry of Housing. The Initial concept designs were completed when I joined the
team and I had to develop these designs to Tender document and Construction issue stage.
I was reporting to the Project Director for updates of the work status, time estimates, resource allocation
and providing inputs related to quantities and specifications. I had a team of a Landscape Architect,
an Architect, an Urban Planner and 6 Cad technicians assisting me in producing the drawings and
providing measurements. I was also contributing with the text and tables required for the design reports
for client submission at each work stage. I was deciding and selecting the graphics which were being
developed by the team in sketch up and Adobe photoshop to go in the report being collated in Adobe
indesign.
The drawing work was being produced in Autocad and my task was divided between working in
Autocad software, preparing excel spreadsheets, writing emails and matter for reports, delegation
of work, supervising the progress of work, review of work being produced, coordinating with other
disciplines, feeding in the information to the team, attending coordination meetings with client to explain
the design as well as to obtain comments on draft submittals, assisting the contract managers and
specification writers with inputs related to Landscape works and coordinating with document controller
for issue of prelimiary(draft) and final packages to the client.

Landscape design development, Tender documentation, Construction documentation, Site supervision
and Contract administration at 365 guest rooms Hotel for Westin Group in Doha, Qatar
Westin Hotel, Doha, Qatar
I worked with the Plannning and Landscape Architecture Division(PLAD) of KEOIC while this project
was being developed for the design works. I was one of the Landscape Architect in a team of 3
Landscape Architects and a Senior Landscape Architects working on this project. The initial concept
design was developed by Mahan Rykiel Associates of Baltimore USA and later there were several
modifications to Architectural designs based on which the concept was redeveloped by PLAD to suit the
updated Architetural design.
The main idea, of creating an oasis with water feature as a reinforcing element guiding the guests from
the entrance through to the interiors of the hotel and to the rear garden, was retained. The character
of the water itself keeps changing from dancing water fountains at the entrance to cascading waters in
the interiors to Infinity swimming pool, flowing river and Koi pond at the rear garden and culminating into
splashing wavepool. This is set in a complimenting lush tropical vegetation throughout the scheme.
I worked in Autocad to develop the basic design drawings which were developed in Adobe Photoshop
and Adobe Indesign software by other team members at concept design stage. Following this I worked
extensively on the approved design to create Tender documents and Construction documents.
I later worked with the Project Management and Construction Management Division(PMCM) of KEOIC
to supervise the constrcution work and to assist in Contract administration of the project. I was reporting
to the Project Manager and was incharge of all the Landscape works at site.
Tasks included review and approval of shop drawings, method of work statements, materials supplied
at site, visits to plant nurseries to check selected plant quality and upon delivery to site, supervision of
works at site prior to major work activities and upon completion of work for approval, preparation of work
reports and documentation of work on a regular basis.

Landscape Design development and Construction documentation for the 16 km Stretch of
redeveloped Rayyan Road in Doha, Qatar
Al Rayyan Road development works, Qatar
I assisted in the Site analysis of the complete
stretch of the 16 km road which started in the
city centre and went to the outskirts. The work
involved visiting the full stretch of the road to take
photographs, identify the landscape character of
the road for the vegetation type, general pubic
usgae and adjacencies.
This was followed by a Desk top study to
understand and analyse the social associations,
historical context weather and climatic
considerations, existing utilities and future
proposals. All this information was compiled in
Indesign report.
I developed the initial design sketch based on
the site analysis which lead to identifying 3 major
segments that were further developed into
landscape character zones.
Apart from this initial design layout , I developed
sketch designs and sections for important
junctions and situations along the stretch of the
road, developed the planting and hardscape
material palettes. All these became part of the
design report that was being prepared by other
team members for submission to the Roads
Authority ASHGAL.
Subsequently I worked to develop the tender
document package, which was later converted to
construction document.

Landscape design and Tender documentation for the 9 hectares Administrative Complex of
RasGas Oil and Gas refinery in Ras Laffan, Qatar
RasGas Administrative Complex, RasLaffan, Qatar
RasGas Oil and Gas Company appointed KEOIC to develop concept design for upgrading the landscape,
Irrigation and way finding at their administrative complex associated with the refinery.
Further work stages from design development through to construction supervision were to be undertaken
by the in-house team of RasGas for which they appointed me from KEOIC to work with their Facilities
management team throughout the project duration.
I was reporting to the Project manager of RasGas Facilities management division and had the support of
2 cad technichians to complete the assignment. The initial task involved modification to the design to suit
some of the changes to the brief for vehicular movement and parking capacities. These changes were
documented and all the major design elements were presented in form of plans and sketches rendered in
Photoshop and collated in powerpoint along with a detailed report of the project which was presented to
various stakeholders within the complex.
After obtaining written buy-in of all the stakeholders the tender stage drawings and report was prepared
and the work was tendered through open tendering method.
I stayed with the project upto receiving the tender quotes from contractor and making recommendation to
the client. Since the construction of the building works was delayed by 3 months, the Landscape work was
estimated to start 5 months after the tendering stage hence I moved on to other projects. Susequently the
work was awarded based on my recommendations and the project was completed a year later.

Development and Industrial Company, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Saadiyaat Island Expressway Landscape, UAE
I Supervised the Landscape works for the 6 km
stretch of Saadiyaat Island expressway while
working with Parsons International.
The design was developed by AECOM and
Parsons were managing the construction works.
I was reporting to the Resident Landscape
Engineer and was assigned a Civil works
supervisor, Landscape works supervisor and a
Surveyor to assist with my works.
The tasks involved aderence of works to approved
shop drawings and specification documents,
checking and approval or rejection of materials
procured and work being done ,preparation of
daily report of works and activities, estimation of
quantities of work completed to assist in updates
to schedule and issue of Contractors fee invoices.

Landscape Concept Design development for sixth crossing corridor (Bur Dubai Side) for Roads
and Transport Authority, Dubai, UAE
Road Intersection Landscape works, Dubai,
UAE
I was involved with the concept design
development for Landscape along various roads
being developed by Parsons Transport Group
(PTG).
I developed 2 design options for one of the
interchanges. Both the concepts were developed
with the intent to provide a visual relief at the
interchange with Landscape that follows the flow
of the vehicular movement, creates a heirarchy of
planting, provides an anchor to the round abouts
and helps identify the interchange.
The design forms borrowed from the 2 major
elements of the region, the creek and the shifting
sand dunes and searing heat (fire) of the desert.
The ripples in the creek water as a form helped
create the concentric bands of planting patterns
in the first option whereas sand dunes and fire
flames helped the creation of planting pattern in
the second option.
I developed the Basic design in Autocad and
rendered the Plans and sections in Adobe
photoshop and composed the presentation in In
design document. The quantities were measured
to prepare a preliminary budget estimate for
presentation to RTA.

Landscape design development through to Site supervision for the 56 hectares Dhirubhai
Ambani Knowledge City in Koparkhairane, Mumbai, India
DAKC office Complex, Navi Mumbai, India
Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, often abbreviated as DAKC, is a technology park located on Thane–
Belapur road near Kopar Khairane in Navi Mumbai, India. Spread over 56 hectares, it was completed in
2003. The city is named after the famous Indian industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani and is owned by the Re-
liance ADA Group and houses a 24-hour National Network Operations Centre (NNOC) along with more
than 13,000 employees working primarily for Reliance Communications division.
I worked on this project from concept design stage through to construction documentation and site su-
pervision.
The Landscape design was developed to create wide circulation network by way of paved walkways
connecting all buildings of the complex as well as to create large congregation spaces. The paving pro-
files and the associated planting were intended to soften the geometry of the building. The existing rivu-
let cutting across the site was stabilised with vegetation and was partially covered to create an elevated
plaza. The Central water feature was introduced here to recreate the continuity of rivulet which now
flows almost 5 metres below the plaza level. The Axial paved walkway starting at this plaza continues as
a boardwalk beyond the vehicular road to culminate at the artificial lake allowing access to the lake edge
without disturbing the vegetation surrounding the lake.
The drawings were developed in Autocad and rendered in water colour and these were supported by
inspirational images collated in word document for presentation to client.

Landscape design development through to site supervision for 500 acres Reliance Township and
7000 acres Refinery at Jamnagar, Gujarat, India
Reliance Green, Residential Township
Situated 35 kms from Jamnagar, along the
state Highway that leads to Dwarka is the now
750-Acres “Reliance Greens” – home to over
6500 families that are part of the Reliance-Family
that are attached to the company’s industrial
juggernaut located across the Highway.
I was working at the site for the first phase(500
acres of the development with the In-house team
of Reliance and was representing Kishore Pradhan
Landscape Architects.
The fast pace construction of work meant the
concept designs for various parts of the township
were being developed while construction was
ongoing in other parts. Client presentations were
held every 15 days at the site for the design being
developed.
The designs were hand drawn sketch plans
coloured in pencil and water colours and the
presentations were held at site offices. For
significant areas rough markings with white
powder and pegs drawn in ground were made at
actual sites for clients understanding and to assist
in decesion making. If the designs thus presented
were approved in principle, these were developed
into Microstation drawings for further final
presentation , coordination with other disciplines
and preparation of construction document
thereafter.
The planting plans were usually developed as
hand drawn blobs on the Civil(Hardscape plans)
with plants types identified. These sketches were
scanned and distributed to the Horticulturist who
were tasked to compute the quantities and prepare
material requisitions to obtain the plant materials
through the procurment division of Reliance.
