Muscle work
 The abductours(deltoid, supraspinatus) The Extensor (Teres
major and latissimus dorsi ) and Lateral rotators (Latissimus
dorsi and Trapezius )of the shoulder work as rotator to stabilise
the arm
 The Extensor of elbow (Anconeus and triceps ) muscle and wrist
and fingers work ko Hold the limb in a straight line
 Elevation of shoulder gridle is controlled by scapula depressor
(latissimus dorsi and Trapezius)

Effects:
• This position has a mechanical
disadvantage
• The abductours of sholder at a marked
mechanical disadvantages as the length
of weight arm exceeds the length of
effort arm

Uses
 This position is corrective for the posture of upper back
 Convenient for swinging exercises
